Clearance Issues w/ ETP 245s
Hey guys,
I have a FFHP iron 408 built to the following specs:
FFHP 408 iron block
11.34cr
Eagle 4" crank
-2cc Diamond pistons
Callies Compstar rods
AFR 225 72cc heads w/ PRC .650 duals (not milled)
247/252 .646/.644 113+0
SCE Titan ICS head gaskets .043 in.
Comp pushrods
My new intake (Harrop Hurricane out of Australia) is outflowing the AFRs and I want more power. My thoughts were to go with the ETP 245s with 72ccs. I talked to Thunder Racing who I bought them from and they said I shouldn't have issues with valve clearance (but it will be close) and I talked to FFHP and they said I will most likely have major issues. Does anyone have this setup or have experience with it. I don't want to bolt up the ETPs to find out that they won't work because then I can't return them per the Thunder Racing return policy. Thank you in advance guys.

With the 72 cc heads you should not even be close. I would have to know the cam events to dictate that for sure though. Most of our big chmber heads have worked without any valve notches.

I think the problem is the valve angle with that lift. I am running a 71.5cc RHS 11* head with a cam in the .609 range, and I have the -2cc valve reliefed diamonds as well. I am running a .040 gasket and .005 out of the hole. I am going to doing a little clearancing in the relief because it was close. Better to be safe than sorry
