Seriously, I'm in the same boat. I'm about to order all the parts for my H/C swap. But I don't know what size pushrods to order. I have to do the swap in as few days as possible, so I can't be taking it all apart, putting the new heads on, measuring, then leaving the car to sit while ordering the pushrods. I need to already have them there. So what do we do?

Matt...
I hate to say it but King James's advice was spot on....Too many variables like you running an .060 gasket and most guys running closer to .040 just to name one.
The most anyone can offer you is a best guess....but the best results are achieved by measuring your combination with an adjustable pushrod, finding zero lash, and then add about .100 which represents your lifter preload.
Glad you finally received the heads and look foward to your results....now go buy King James a beer.

How about if you find a place local that has pushrods? Then just measure and go pick up the ones you need.
And by the way, I think it would be worse if someone came on here and told you that a certain length pushrod will work for you, then you install it AND IT SMASHES INTO YOUR DIAMOND PISTONS!

And I wouldn't just throw them in there and fire it up without knowing that they were ok.

Are there any speed shops in your area? Maybe make some calls. Birmingham is a big city, there must be some place that sells what you need.

Actually 7.40's will be too short. Just by putting some figures on paper.
On average AFRs are .01 taller decks. 65 cc chambers is like a .006 mill.
and .08 gasket thikness difference.
So (aproximately)
.01- (.006) +.0080= .012
Take that into account + the base circle difference and it is clear that 7.40 will be a tad short.
King J and Tony were right though, measuring is the only way.
Don't rush into it and do it right.
