Well seeing as how the Ford Windstar and Freestar have done nothing but take up room on showroom floors Ford needed to come up with a minivan alternative. Apparently the Five Hundred based Freestyle wasn't the answer so they're trying something a bit more different. Meet the Ford Fairlane. Whether or not the nameplate makes it to showrooms is another story. I say why not reapply the Freestyle nameplate here. Hopefully edgy gets the job done here and Ford can actually move these things off of dealer lots without incentives. It seems like a perfect formula if you ask me. Well... everything except the name. The concept debuted More pics to come.

I saw this in person at the '06 Detroit Auto Show. I wasn't impressed much with it there, but it does look better in the photos you've posted.

This would sell like hotcakes. Sort of how the Chrysler 300 has that Rolls Royce look, this car has that Range Rover look. People just want to look the part. I've seen way too many Chrysler 300s to not want one no matter how cheap and how fast.

Since Ford owns Range Rover they're going to sell a version in the US as a Ford now? It looks just like a Range/Land Rover.

Doesnt look to bad, probably not that much room to haul stuff or a family trip....one thing I noticed if you have kids like me, I wouldnt buy it because of the rear suicide doors...definetly not family oriented but an A+ for someone who needs that "status quo"..lol

Why don't they just call it "Cheaper Land Rover?"

They think that can compete with minivan sales? Are they on crack? Ford is in bad enough trouble as it is, this isn't gonna help any.

Or how about they call it a Ford Explorer - which is what this new SUV almost resembles.

Why did they have to disgrace the Fairlane name with that POS
