Default Looking for opinions on my proposed WS6 ram air mod

First of all, I looked into the BG Ram Air and I can't see spending that much money. Especially when most of the benefit of installing the BG Ram Air system probably comes from removing both baffles in the hood, not from the actual product. (However, I could be wrong).

So this is what I'm thinking of doing: removing both baffles, removing the plastic screens in the nostrils, installing some kind of foam seal to fill most of the gap between the hood and the air lid, and performing the FRA mod (I think that's what it's called; when you cut out the bottom of the air box).

I plan to make solid plastic inserts for the nostrils. I'll install those when it rains.

I'm sure people have done this before, but I'm unaware of the pros and cons. If anyone has any comments or advice I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jim

good idea with the baffles but if you're going to seal the hood to the airbox, you probably wouldn't want !FRA. take advantage of that big fat lower air box you have. just my $.02

the benefit of BG ramair is channeling the air into the intake along with removing baffles. removing baffles is definitely beneficial.

That's basically what I did. Removed both sets of bafffles, sealed hood to airbox using foam insulating strip, filled corners/crevices in hood nostril area with expanding foam insulation (aerosol can stuff, then carved out excess to form a smooth contoured hood inlet), and covered the openings in the bottom of the nostril area with duct tape *L*. The last is key for when it rains because I can peel the duct tape off and the openings are again there for water drainage. Not the prettiest setup *L*, but it can't really be seen anyway and all done and sealed nicely for about 20 bucks!

You only want air from the coldest and most direct source, namely through the hood. Its pointless to do FRA also.

I should have pointed that out in my post above too - no FRA for mine, just the hood work I described.

Thanks for the replies! I'll Probably do the same mods that Bill performed. Bill that's a good idea, using the "Great Stuff" foam to fill the hood.

Thanks again,
