Default should i get slicks and skinnies or a cam first?

I am wanting to buy a set of convo pros and MT ET streets with front skinnies for my car. I have been beating myself to death about whether i should buy a cam and put it in my car before i mess with the wheels and tires. WHen i buy a cam i am goin to get the thunderracing.com's TR 230/224 cam with 114 ls. I will be running the exhaust that is ordered on my sig. I am currently runing Nitto drag radials on the back so i can run at the track. What do you guys think should i go with a cam first or the wheels and tires?

I think best plan of attack would be cam, spray then get big & littles to hook up the extra hp.

Just my opinion, but I would put the cam in first. Get all the power you want, and worry about the wheels/tires later.

I gotta admit, a set of Convo Pros would be nice.

I say a 12 bolt and the convo pros!!!!!!!!!! Some of those 5,000 rpm clutch dumps would do ya some goood.

I have a freind who just installed a TR 228 in an M6 car and he more or less isn't doing any good b/c he can't get it to hook with the nitto's(and he has killed a 2 stock 10 bolts with nittos before the cam)

I say go with the Convo's and slicks. Reason being, because I smoked the hell out cammed out cars with my stock motor!! My theory, was to dial in what I had stock, (internals) 11.49 et's. Why add more power without upgrading the suspension and tires? Just so you can spin the tires further? The tires can't even handle the stock power level, so what's the sence.

You would see immediate benifit with the Convo's & slicks, 12 bolt. Whereas, with the cam, you would not be able to enjoy the power, other than it sounding cool.

Get the tires, go faster now, and really go faster, when you finally can afford the cam. Just my .02. Good luck.

Definitely cam it's all about the power then you worry about putting it to the ground.

Definately do traction and drivetrain first. If you race on a track, a good hooking lower horsepower car will always out ET a higher horsepower no traction "dyno queen". Just my thoughts anyway!

I also say go for the good traction setup first. I did my cam/clutch at the same time with the intention of getting a good rear under the car very soon. However as always - different things come along - and now I'm trying to throw 400hp at street tires so I don't blow up the 10 bolt which just isn't as much fun as throwing slicks and skinnies on and jumping out of the hole
