Gutted my cats last night!!!
Well I finally gave in and gutted my cats last night. Took me about 2.5 - 3 hrs. The nuts were pretty rusted, so I had to use WD40 to wet them down several times before they would budge. All I can say is wow. It's like a whole new exhaust. I had that same feeling when I first started my car after putting the loudmouth on. It's very loud, but I love it. I leave my stereo off or down all the time anyway b/c I listen to my car more. I'm sure some people will think it's too loud or nasty, but hey...to each his own. Makes me smile whenever I start it or accelerate, or even downshift for that matter <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I have the SLP Loudmouth catback sooo it's breathing pretty well. I wanted to leave the cat shells on if for some reason someone did a visual inspection. I was told I am going to need O2 sims now. I don't have any SES lights on yet. I saw 3 O2 sensors attached to the cats. Do I need a o2 sim for each one? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> Down the road I want to go with headers and a y pipe, but for now the price was right and the labor was cheap.....FREE!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

You might be fine with the ses light for a little but you migh throw a code sooner or later but there are accually 4 sesors and the sims will go in the back two if u accidentally put them in the front you will know the car wont idle and it will either run too rich or too lean i hope this help out a little.

Without Simms you will set a DTC eventually. Once that happens you will need a scan tool to reset the DTC, altho I think the BATT. disconnect method might restet current AND pending DTCs. Better to use a scan tool. The post cat O2s outputs will follow the pre cat O2s outputs once your cats are gutted. After the PCM realizes that the post cat O2 output has NOT been flattened out in relation to the pre cat O2 outputs because you have gutted your cats the DTC will go set. That may take a few drive cycles before the code goes from pending to current and your MIL comes "ON".

well....the SES light came on. I'm gonna order the O2 sims tonight. That or I'll try and find some from anyone selling them off their f-body. Once I put the sims in will the light go out by itself or do I have to use a scan tool?

I've got a question. Although it's throwing this code, will it hinder performance in anyway, e.g., like telling the computer to richen it up, or lean it out, or anything of that nature?

Re: Gutted my cats last night!!!
Just wanted to let ya guys know I put my O2 sims in last night. The SES light went off by itself this evening sometime on my way home from work. I don't have any sound clips of my exhaust. I actually don't have any idea how to even make a sound clip. All in all, I love how loud it is.
