Default Can you have a tune for two boost levels?

I was just thinking... i am looking at doing the STS kit this winter. I was planning on running 5 psi everyday to keep it safe but was also hoping to be able to bump it up to 8 psi when needed. Now... Can 1 tune be good for both levels? Is there such thing as 2 tunes? Or would running a very safe tune for 5 psi + meth be okay for 8 psi?

i think you need a standalone or speed density tune for it but im not sure! lol

i def know with a standalone you can run whatever you like. the ECU will just compensate for the extra air with more fuel (as long as its in the look up tables).

thanks Chris.

Yes, you'll need a 2 bar SD tune...

If you stay with stock PCM... tune for your high boost level.

I have always heard tune for you highest boost level that you plan to run and anything below that the computer can handle. I plan to see around 13-15lbs on the dyno with my small 3.2 Blower pulley then after the dyno session put a 4.00 blower pulley on to see around 8-10lbs, the computer should be able to handle that??

That is the absolute truth.

I run two boost levels, one with no meth and one with meth. I just turn the boost up with the meth on until I get the a/f I want after it's tuned for 91 octane. At least that's what I did before.

91 octane has let me go 15psi so far, still have to play with the meth

Speed Inc. is using one. They have it on the hugger SS. Allows 2 different boost levels without having to even stop the car.

He couldn't run an electric boost controller of sorts with 5-8 in it? Tune for 8 and run 5 until he wants to romp someone's butt? I would just speed density it with a 2-bar and call it done.

ok, i did check into speed density. jsut involves ditching my MAF and swapping my stock MAP to a 2-bar correct? Then when i switch boost levels, will the car jsut know itself to switch over to handle the 8 psi? You are actually probably right that if i hold up at 8 psi i wont touch it, but right now im thinking i want to run 5 psi around town BUT be able to crank it up at any moment to 8psi and have it run fine... what should i do... run speed density and meth but only have meth come on at 8 psi?

The most common example would be using a cutout which might give you 2-4lbs more flow when you open it up. So you tune the car with the dump open and let the PCM/MAF manage things in closed loop when it's closed.

You'll run slightly rich when it's closed but be right on when you open up the dump.
