Default It's official my 4L60-E is toast

After having my car tuned it still runs like **** and still hits the rev limiter 1-2 and 2-3, slips like crazy. My tuner got a PO751 code also. Any advice on what to do now? As much as a would like to just throw a race build trans in there , it's not possible for me financial right now. Any reccomendations as to what I should do to strenthen the stock tranny when it's rebuilt? Also, what an approximate cost for a good rebuild with upgrades?

How do you know it's toast right now. If I'm not mistake a P0751 code is the pressure control solenoid. Maybe all you need is a cheap $100 fix before you need a new tranny.

PO751 is a trans slip code. If your trans is toast, your fluid will be brown and smell burnt.

Where are some good places to get a built 4l60-e? I hear rock-on and probuilt are good-------any others?

Well I don't know if it's toasted, just screwed up and I know nothing about transmissions. Here's what it does. Sometimes during normal driving it needs 5000 rpms in 1st gear to get moving, sometimes it's ok. It bangs the rev limiter on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts everytime. At the higher rpms it slips also. PO751 is what my tuner said has something to do with slippage and silenoid failure. What's a silenoid? How many would I need, cost? I'm really hoping it's going to be a cheap fix, but that never happens with my luck. What should I upgrade while it's in the shop? BTW, I just checked the fluid, can't tell if it's burnt or not. Looks sorta pinkish grey to me smells a little burnt but not alot??? I've never changed tranny fluid myself and the only time i've added it was last week after the install, so clueless on that part.

Dude it's because of your stall. It's a tuning issue, your trans is fine. The reason why it takes you so much rpms to get moving is because the trans threw the code and locked you out of 1st and 3rd gear (limp mode). If you turn the car off for a few minutes, you'll get your gears back or you can manually move the shifter to 1st then back up to 3rd and you'll get them back that way as well. I've been through this, it's a tuning issue.

Ok, this is where i'm confused...I had my car tuned after I put the stall in, he saw the code, told me what it was and said he's heard it helps sometime to turn the SES light off for that problem and many people experience it after a high stall install. He's not a tranny expert or anything but he said it seems like the trans is going. I'm hoping the silenoid(s) just need to be replaced and everything will be fine. This has become a pure nightmare.

Did you have the trans tuned or the motor tuned? I also had my trans tuned and then this problem happened. You have to tune out those codes. I haven't had a problem since.

Trans tuned, he adjusted shift rpms, turned the PO751 code off, and all the other stuff he does when someone with an LS1 car with a stall comes in. He's a very good tuner and knows what he's doing.

There's also another one PO757, make sure that one is gone too. If your trans still threw the P0751 code, it wasn't tuned out.

Like Roarin said. Have your tuner scan your car again and see what pops up. The vehicle speed sensor can make the tranny act up also. Though, my tranny & converter is rebuilt, I've had (or still have maybe?) the same problem: https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/490146-weird-tranny-problem.html

If your car isn't throwing any tranny related codes and tuned right, then it might be time for a rebuilt.

Man I tell ya what I just recently had my Yank PT4000 put in and damn cruising along everythings going great. I get on the highway for about 20 minutes and the converter wont lock. I slow down and get off the highway and the car wont move till like 4K and its standing at 4500 rpm goign down the highway... I thought to myself how the hell did I lose gears within an hour of getting the converter put in. Well I parked it at a parts store to get some trans fluid incase it was low. It was fine. Started it up took off and magically 1st gear came back + lockup then it did it an hour later. I guess im in limp mode and need to get everything strait!
