Default Dyno in the Area

Hey guys,

I was curious if anyone could recommend a good place to get dynoed. I live in the Detroit, MI area. I'm not looking for the best professional setup, but reliable numbers are key to satisfying my curiosity. I just need the benchmark so I can see how future mods affect things.

Your local forum is going to be the best place to check out shops & where dyno's are located.

I have had my car tuned at livernois and ape when they were still around. Niether one knew what the hell they were doing. Wheel 2 wheel if you want to stay in mi. Or if you don't mind driving GMR speed did mine and let me tell you they know there ****.They are having an open house/drag day July 8-9. If you are gonig to do any future mods and want to have the car dyno/tuned after each one pick one shop and stay with it so you get accurate gains.

I second the Livernois and APE comment.

EFI is EFI...doesn't matter if it's Ford or GM. They do 50/50 GM vs. Ford
stuff. Anyone who races at that level knows far more than the
average person and can easily tune a street car. 99% of the cars
on this site are just your basic bolt on, blower, or turbo car...which is
Motorsports 101.

Who at Livernois tuned your car?

Not to bash Livernois UNIT and I don't think anyone here is trying to either, but I along with many others have heard of people (mainly LS1 guys) having bad experiences with the guys there latly. I'm sure they do great work but if some place messed up my tune I wouldn't recommend them to anyone either I'd warn them.

I'm asking who. Chances are the guy that tuned it doesn't even work
there anymore, which means he's making negative comments about
a sponsor as a result of a tuner that no longer works there. Doesn't
make a whole lot of sense to me. Just curious to see who it was...that's
all.

I can't remember who tuned it but it was 2 years ago. And my car was a simple bolt on(heads and cam) but they could not get it right. I don't even know who tunes the cars there now. All I can say is that my car ran like ****. I don't see a bunch of people coming in here to defend livernois that have a GM. Matter of fact everyone is against them. IF they have someone that accually Knows there **** tuning wise go ahead and be the ginney pig. I was the pig once but not twice. I don't know if you remember but we have met. You have seen my car.

Exactly my point. I don't see how you can attempt to steer business away
from a local shop and LS1Tech sponsor over a tune you receive from
someone two years ago...that doesn't even work there anymore.

So crucify a shop over a bad tune from a guy that hasn't worked there
in years. Did you ever raise your concers about the tune?

So how can you say anything about their work?

Really? They do an awful lot of GM business for that to be the case.
Plenty of the cars are pretty damned nasty too. Should I PM a few people
and have them post up for you?

Guinnea pig? You're implying that they've never tuned a car I suppose.
Dan Millen tunes my car. Please tell me that he doesn't know what he's doing.

I've met a lot of people before and I've seen a lot of heads/cam LS1's.
They're a dime a dozen.

I heard nothing but bad things to about Livernois.
When I was getting my car tuned I wasn't even considering them.

And Unit213 chill out man. The poeple you hire at your business directly reflect your business. So if you hire shitty guys that do shitty tunes then your more then likely going to get a shitty rep. end of story

Take it to Wheel 2 Wheel.

Well I don't know who you were and I can tell you that two years ago Greg did the tuning on it, and he is no longer here. I know Greg knew what he was doing espically on a heads, cam car, its not that bad unless its a huge cam then its hit or miss on how well its gonna drive. I really want to know what you mean it ran like ****? At that time I didn't tune customers LS1's just my own stuff for developmet. I do most all the GM stuff there now, I am working on training another guy. I will offer you a free retune to make it right. Can I ask why you didn't come back and have us fix it? Doesn't make sense that you would pay money and not ask for us to fix it or a refund? People do need to understand that a cam car can be quite difficult. Unless its easier to come on the board two years later and bash us?

I don't remember your car but like I said why not ask for a retune or a credit, I am still extending this to you today?

No one does shitty tunes here, maybe not perferct but it can take time, I have learned alot and we as a company have gotten better at what we do. I have done plenty of retunes for other shops and I won't say who, I don't do that.

Also can you tell me what bad experiences you have heard, or better yet what ones you have had, its not fair that you go on here and say you have heard nothing but bad things.

You forsure don't want me to go on here and say I heard bad things about you do you?

Dan
I'm not saying you give bad tunes but mr banish himself did
and buddy did try to get things worked out with livernois but got blown off.
maybe not by you but greg , and greg was a employee of livernois and thats why livernois has a bad rep among my buddies and it seems like alot others too.
I'm not trying to bash any company the guy asked for good tuning shops and told him what I know

and to your last comment the difference is you haven't heard anything bad about me and if you have, go ahead and talk thats what this forum is for to share our experiences about our cars.

keep the good work up Dan mybe you'll see my car soon.

I will however say Greg did not do bad work, at least all the stuff I seen, and if there is anything bad let me know, for example your buddy, have him call me and we can sort it out ....No not on the message board but have him call me
