Stereo & Electronics - Speaker replacement Q...

I know there are many opinions of the stock 500W system - But I feel it suits my eardrums fairly well as my Daily Driver. I've thought about upgrading but HATE the look of all aftermarket decks. Just as I started thinking about upgrading my speakers, my front passenger side kicked, now another's gone in the rear.

I went to a good home/car audio store nearby (Tweeter inc.) and they said to be careful just replacing the speakers as I may blow both the speakers and the stereo unit if I choose equipment incorrectly. So, my question is. What are good speakers that I can hook up to my stock system without blowing anything? I'm also decent at soldering so I plan on doing the install myself. Also, would my plan increase the quality of my sound? Thanks!

There are dozens of threads about specific brands and models of speakers that work well with the Monsoon system. Start with the frequently asked questions thread at the top of the forum and then maybe search for some more recent threads.

Basically, you don't have to worry about damaging anything - they were just trying to sell you stuff. However, you do have to consider that most aftermarket speakers are 4-ohm and the factory speakers (except for the tweeters) are 2-ohm. That means that unless you buy quality high-efficiency aftermarket replacements you won't be happy with the sound. You don't have to spend a ton of money but don't buy cheap.
