Default 228R H/C Results

The TSP 228R seems to be a popular cam these days. It isn't big by todays standards, but it fit my goals perfectly.

Dynojet SAE 416 RWHP / 387 RWTQ

2004 M6 Coupe

ENGINE MODS

TSP 228R 112LSA
AFR 205's milled to 62cc
Comp 921 springs w/ titanium retainers
Comp hardened push rods
Katech chain
Harland Sharp modified rockers
Ported LS6 oil pump
Dynatech LT headers, X pipe, High flow cats
GHL Bullet catback
Vararam

DRIVETRAIN MODS

LS7 clutch package
DTE strut brace
DTE hardened output shaft

I'm pretty happy with the numbers. They are what I expected, so no complaints. It might do a little better in cooler air (105 degree's) but they are corrected numbers. And we have 91 Octain in Arizona, so not too bad. Also, I didn't use an underdrive pulley because I want the A/C to work at its best since it's so friggin hot here

Well, I'm tapped out for this year. Next year 3.90 gears and Fast 90/90.

Those are good results.

I plan on getting the AFR 205's when I get heads (long time from now). I figure roughly 420 rwhp then. We have the same cam and most of the same bolt-ons, but mine's a camaro.

I guess I would expect a little bit more out of afr 205's.

I'd expect a little bit more out of the supposed big horsepower AFR cylinder
heads. Checkout cantdrv65's dyno results, he made 435rwhp with PRC LS6 heads & the same size camshaft!
His PRC heads only cost him $899 because he doesn't even have the
competition valve job upgrade!!

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/529823-tsp-ls6-heads-228-230-cam-mustang-dyno.html

I think we need some side by side results from these big $$ cylinder heads &
the PRC LS6 heads!

Yeah, those numbers look a little low by about 15hp. But again, dyno numbers don't mean much as long as the car runs strong.

Just FYI, the Powerbond %25 UD pulley has no UD on the air cond. belt. That's the one I got, 'cause it gets hot here, too. 106 yesterday.

Any reason you went with 921s?

Is there much to be gained if you don't underdrive the A/C?

Although he does have cats, no .040 cometic and no underdrive pulley. So he might hit about 430 to the wheels with the addition of these.

but still...this was a dyno jet compared to my mustang dyno.

And also a fresh 04 ls1 compared to a 98 with 92k miles

Do you have a good tune?

Very similiar setup here. Except I've had a 90/90 combo, and pulley w/ a 3200 stalled A4. (405/365 on a Mustang Dyno stopping the run @ 6k rpm)

I bet you love the new sound.

Seems a little low to me as well. I was making 430/390 with my G5X-2 cam and AFR 205's. I didn't have a pulley either, and I had headers not as good as the Dynatechs and stock cats holding up some power also.

What is the deal with those modifier rockers?
