Cheap and FI are equal to water and oil... Getting into FI will cost money, so does staying in the FI game (blown trannies, breaking diffs, maintenance, quicker brake wear due to higher speeds, etc). You have to pay to play.

We didnt mean it that way. But there is no reason to lie about how much a boosted car costs. And how much it costs to maintain.

Do a search for the old what are our cars worth thread. Lots of people added up their investments in FI. That thread tells a scary story.

Yeah, it's WAY too hard for us to say... it's a loaded question. I did my setup for about 4 grand, not too bad I might add, for what I have, but it was a bitch to do myself laying in the driveway. Do a search, find what you like, and double what you plan on spending, that'll be a little more realistic number.

Well if u can hold ur self to about 450-500 HP then u can get away with a basic kit adn maybe only 42# injectors and a inline pump. So prolly 5k with u tossin it on. It aitn so much that the kits are super expensive its just that its a fast lane to broken parts.

When i got my kit i was gonna stick to 500 HP adn i was happy as ****. After a while its not a fast as it used to be. So u turn teh boost up. Need bigger injectors and specalizied fuel system. Then u find all teh weak spots on the stock engine. High compression dont mix with boost easily. So i got lower compression heads and gaskets and a cam. 1k again. Need to tune it all so u aitn goin to the tunin shop 4 times a month. 500 there if u have a laptop. I luckily had a 12 bolt rear in the car already as i broke my rear on stockish power and already had a good Spec clutch. Cost me 3k. Now ur only weak link is teh rotating assembly. 3k there and the tranyn wont take the power so another 2-5k there. Now ur at the point that u can spend another 5k and have a race car. So why not!?! lol its a horrible addiction that i love every day.

So basically if u can restrain urself ull be ok. But i never met anyone that could. GL man.

John

Superchargers are the least expensive (at least initially) form of forced induction excluding N20. If you can find a used Vortech or ProCharger and can spin your own wrenches you can greatly curtail the cost. Figure $4,000 - $6,000.

A complete setup (driveline, fuel system, forged motor, etc) is going to cost you well north of $10,000 and probably closer to $20,000.
