Default VTEC almost takes my 427

This was my first race with the new motor, I'm running no-sidewall Pirelli's and still figuring how to launch this thing. Anyway, I line em up with a nice looking NSX. The guy said it was stock, putting out 29* some odd hp. Out of the hole, he instantly puts a half car or so on me while I just light up the tires. Probably closer to a full car. My nose stays at his door through 2nd, even though I'm fishtailing and having to get out of the throttle the whole time since my back end sarted to go in his lane. I hit 3rd and get a split second of traction and put a car on him. Start spinning again and lifting again, and pull no more. Then we shut it down, which was good because my stereo flew out and landed on top of my shifting hand when I hit 3rd lol and hooked up It was pretty ugly. The guy was cool and I was too embarrassed to tell him what I had under the hood. Time for a spare set of wheels with ET Streets, then it's on.

Time for a new set of wheels and some seat time! Sounds like you have quite a beast on your hands there. Have fun with it!

Why would you even try to run in that thing with anything less than ET Streets?

Not only could you probably get beat by a shopping cart but you're going to end up wrecking that thing if you keep screwing around.

Well, I've been hot rodding since I got my license in '83 and never had a wreck yet. Or a ticket for that matter. I think I'll be okay. But yeah, a shopping cart could take me off the line right now lol

You barely beat a 14 flat car. He probably though his NSX was fast since he was keeping up with a car that was fish-tailing and ****.

That's cool. I wasn't trying to come off like an *** but I just don't see the point in taking the chance.

I'd be scared to even try and accelerate into traffic normally with a car like yours with anything less than at least some MT DR's...

Be smart and take care!

Naw, it's really not as bad as you would think. You can drive it around like a normal car as long as you don't get too crazy with the throttle. Actually hooks up pretty good on the highway, it'll plant you in the seat. Until I get some tire I just need to get out of the habit of flooring it all the way and powershifting like a dumbass would do when the car is already all over the road. When I race, I do that without even thinking. And unfortunelty, that's what I did against the VTEC This weekend is going to be devoted to going out and practicing my launches so that **** don't happen again.

Good run this brings up the age old saying power is nothing with out control.

I bet with a good hook up your car would be down right scary.

You're right, power is worthless if you can't use it. I can't wait to see how cool it will be with traction. Got my damn stereo flying out hitting 3rd gear

I ran my 408 on 9psi with normal street radials on 18s, granted it was still fish tailing from a 60 roll in 3'rd gear in my 3 speed but it usually hooked up soon after.

It was in a safe place away from everything not too far away. Where is the hot rod scene around here? Moved here 4 weeks ago and still don't know anyone
