Default What is the NHRA 5 Point safety harness recertification frequency?

Anyone know? I dug around and could not find a concrete answer. I thought it was 5 years and the techs are saying 2 years.

Has anyone sent their RSI harness back for recertification?

TIA!

Yeah I think you are right. I guess I'll see if RCI will recert them.

2 years. RCI sells some "platnium" belts that have a free 2 year certification so you get 4 years for "free"

2 years, and most racers I know just replace their belts after 2 years (I do this as well) because:

By the time you pull them, ship them off and wait to get them back after paying for the re-cert (unless a set of high-end with a free re-cert as mentioned above), you're not saving much over buying a new set.

I have been told that if you find someone to recert them (Simpson will not) it would cost appx $50.00 plus shipping each way. It's just cheaper to buy a new set which is what I've done. The RCI Platinum offers a free recertification so basically you get 4 years out of them after you pay shipping each way. Not a bad deal really.

I have a set of cam locks also and I really wanted to keep them

Hmmm I wonder what a used cam lock harness would go for on ebay.

I'd definately check out trying to sell out-of-date ones if you can. Most 4x4 and jeep guys need them and they don't care about the cert date. $20-30 bucks I've seen change hands.

Mine is black, but I'll probably install it on the passengers side for cosmetic purposes. I can see there being a slight demand from the off road group or even as an extra set for a passenger in a drag car.
