Heads for FI?!?
Ok guys... what is the best budget head for a 22lbs PSI setup? I know that anything on the stock casting wont work.... and AFR's are out of my price range. Would like to have 72cc chamber for compression.

If you don't want stock castings then you are left spending $2,500 - $3,000 for AFR, AllPro, or ETP heads.

Who is running more then 18lbs of boost on a 400+ CI motor with stock casted heads? Not being a smart ***.. if your right I will love it. I would just need some facts that counter what the above sponsors have told me.

There's a new truth every few years it seems. Back in the day, you couldn't run more than 10 psi before the heads would fly off the motor
317 heads on my old setup, 25 to 30 psi.
those same heads were on the white TT car last year, mid 25 to 28 psi on little turbos.
Best solution out there, probably not. But you don't need to give up on stock castings if you're on a budget.

I think part of what people are saying is that there are no guarantees... and stock heads vs: aftermarket heads... chances are that the aftermarket’s will last longer (under more boost).
Patriot is coming out with their own castings in September for ~1800 or so... we will see. With my budget... right now... I will stay with some stock casted heads I think.
But you were running on a close to stock cube motor right? Is there any real difference in the 346 and 408 when we are talking about stock castings handling boost?

Who ever thought we would have a problem of making such great combustion chamber pressures that it pushes the head off the block? I hadn't heard of this until I read about W2W's TT car in Hot Rod about 5 months ago.
It sure is a GREAT time to be in motorsports

Stock castings on the Formula went low 8's. Same worn out heads put on my CE have gone mid 8's. They do start to push some water at 25+psi and 20+* of timing. Use stock MLS gaskets and you'll be fine.

Vince.. I agree I think that is what I am going to do as well. I think I will stick with Stage 2 P+P 317 heads
SS.... haha you commented in my other thread... I am shooting for 18+lbs with a 76MPS turbo... My only concern is the backpressure, I will have to keep that heat in!
