Default Running rough after longtube install.

Just put a set of longtube headers on my 01 TA. I also did plugs and wires at the same time. Now my car doesnt run right at all. It will run right for the first minute or 2 but then the idle drops to around 300rpm or so and the oil pressure bumps around between id say 35-45 or so. When I drive the car it seems like there is no throttle response it takes some time for it to respond. I used MSD wires, and NGK plugs. I dont know what is going on. Can anyone help?

Check the plug wires to see you got them on tight.
SES light on ?
Usually when it does this after LT install, it's the plugs or wires
Make sure the temp sensor wasn't damaged during the install (it's right in front of the #1 header primary) and the connector is plugged in, and the wires aren't damaged

Service engine light was on, but I tried resetting the computer and it hasnt turned on yet. I made sure all the wires were on tight, I guess i will go in after it cools down and make sure all the plugs are tight. I had the temp sensor unplugged while i was putting the headers in and plugged it back in after I was done. So it should be ok, but I will check that out as well. Also my Y-pipe is hitting my floorboard so I still need to adjust that but thats a different problem for later days. I need to get my baby running smoothly again!

I just checked all the plugs and wires and they are all on there tight. The car runs fine till it heats up a little. It idles around 600 or so, then after it heats up it starts to lower to around 200-300 and gets real rough. The SES light came on when i just started it up again but im assuming its because i removed AIR but not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

did you take the egr tube that goes into the front of your manifold off.?? if you did or even didn't, you should check that the O-RING is seated properly..mine was running poorly also and I put a new ring on and it is fine..you cannot hear the sucking sound if it is a small leak..mine was doing the EXACT same thing as you describe.

I thought my MSD's were on all the way the first time. Just double check for the double "click."

Well you don't want them in the front 02's because they actually are reading still even with the longtubes. The rear ones are the ones that you want to simm or have deleted in a tune.

Let me go look..I feel like I have the rear 02's in my header spot because those are the ones that reached, and my front ones have the sims I wanna say. Ill check that out now, would I need extensions then I take it? Also I dont think its spark plug/wire related because it runs fine when its started, its after it heats up it almost dies.

Yep def. you have the sims on the front o2's and the backs plugged in to the sensors. The back ones just tell the computer the cats still work and the front ones handle you're air fuel ratio.

This has been happening alot lately.

Well the back ones are the ones that reached which is why I put them there. It makes sense now, I need to get some 02 Extensions would they carry those at pepboys or anything? Or should I stop by speed inc since they are about 10 minutes from me?

A sponsor or nearby speed shop (Speed inc.) would definitely have them on hand. I would die if O'reillys or Pep Boys/Autozone had some!

Heck, Speed inc can probably tune them out for cheaper than what you will pay for extensions. You might want to consider that. It will be less crap hanging around from the underside of the car.
