Default 285/40/17 Ok?

I was just curious im going to be getting some new tires soon for my WS6 wheels. Is it ok to run this size on the 17x9? Will there be any performance gain or should I just stick with the 275/40/17? Anyone have any pics with the 285/40 ?

thanks!!

They will fit but I don't think they are optimal for that size, I could be wrong too. I use 285's on a 17x10 wheel.

Yah im just curious cause I know the sidewall will be a bit bigger since its a 40 of 285 instead of 40 of 275.........so I dont know if it will look dumb.....anyways.....also there are a few more tires I like in that size that arent available in 275!

you wont be able to tell much of a difference, but it will fit all all 4 corners.. just slightly taller.. do it.. i generally try to put the biggest tire i can fit on a wheel anyway..

I had the 285 series on both some SS wheels that I had on my S-10, and on my WS6 when I bought it I had them swap my new yokohoma's that were 285 onto the ws6 since its tires were bald.

Normally you can bump up to the next size just fine. 275 to 285 in this case. For one, the cars from the factory are given enough clearance to run tire chains if needed. (Although, I hope I'm never out in that kind of weather in my bird.) With the larger size you may not be able to run tire chains and the car will set a little higher. (Not much and you probably won't even notice it.)

Should be fine.
