what is the 6sp record, and setup the car is running..rwhp, weight... and also how built is the trans??

i think its SW's vette but i may be wrong, i think the Powell bros are gonna go for the fastest 6spd record, right the car is at 540rwhp but theyre gonna do a fogger kit, and it has an MTI built tranny

If were talking F-body, I believe N/A is Tosto running 9.7x and then with some spray is Taner at 9.4x

Or if you want a 6-speed in general there is a Viper going 8's...........

According to the boosted and nitrous lists from right here on LS1tech - the fastest boosted F body is a 10.77@136 by MightyMouse and the fastest nitrous 6 speed appears to be Nick N running 9.97@139. Not sure about NA, or if these are the most up to date times, but its what I found.

I would love to know exactly what times the fastest 6 speed F-Body, Vette and general 6 speed's are if anyone knows more!

I'm assuming your talking about Chad's yellow Viper? It's been 7.99 with the auto. The best 6-speed pass is 8.75

Uhhh, this is gay. As you can see from all of the responses this was a very broad question.

Lots of cars have 6sp's. What type of car? Racecar or DD? What type engine? Etc...


Only personal experience I can speak on is DD 6sp F-body. I know MM (Mighty Mouse) held that record once upon a time. I have no idea if it has been beaten. He's gone 9's in his full weight turbo Formy 6sp and drives, no bull, every day everywhere.

i believe the fastest 6 speed is a supra runnin 7's, the viper that runs 7's is an auto but there is a 6 speed version runnin deep 8's

its not a 6 spd but john shepherd is in the 7's with his 5 spd talon.... i had a chance to see it run in person over the weekend and all i can say is this car is nuts!!!

mine is a stock geared, stock synchro'd t-56 and i lift shift to keep it together.

its got all your general rebuild stuff in it, including a viper output shaft conversion.

the original poster only needs to clarify exactly the record they are looking for... f body or ls1 or lt1 or any car etc.

i think my two year old pass still keeps me in the running for some record if you narrow it down enough ;)

I dont know if it counts but Dan Millens car runs low 7's with a liberty trans. Is that considered a manual?

I think he went high 6's and I wouldn't consider a Liberty and a M6 to be in the same class. Unless the M6 was maybe proshifted and had some wicked aftermarket internals.

IMO Taner is the man, shifting a M6 and using the clutch pedal every shift is very impresive. :hail:

true, if my car was race only i would pro shift in a heartbeat. i have driven Roman's car when he had borrowed Harlans proshifted trans and was way more fun to shift than the trans in my car right now! much much faster shits and precise engagement, not to mention you really only had to blip the clutch pedal to be able to grab the next gear.
plus you have to hold it in 4th gear so it doesn't pop out.... wtf is that $hit. i wouldn't want to have to hold the shifter in gear. there is alot of things my car didn't come with when it rolled off the factory line, one of them is a trans that pops out of fourth when at WOT. :jest:

The Liberty Equilizer in Millens car is clutch less. He only uses the clutch to launch. And taner the proshifting is nice but the faceplating is way better, and lasts 100 to 150 passes, and is also very streetable. You could do 1-4 and leave 5th and 6th stock. :drive:

liberty equalizer?? is that with straight cut gears? is that something you can do and if so, what is the cost?

Yes the equalizer does have straight cut gears as the have the strongest tooth design. The closest thing I can do to the equalizer is faceplating your t56. I have the faceplating in my tranny and I love it. Powershifting is no longer a problem, and it doesn't break stuff anymore. You would have to call us on monday for the price of faceplating. The equalizer starts at $6000 for the tranny then you have the clutch and bellhousing not cheap at all. There is a guy on the board that has one in his car.

I just now noticed this... I really would like to at least for a picture or video, but i couldnt resist i would end up putting 150+ shot on there and probley messing up a trans. What I cant understand is my car is about 300lbs lighter than yours and you trap 142+ and i usually trap 137-140

my best ever is 141.85 it usually is 140.85 consistantly. My weight is anywhere from 3400 to 3450 depending on gas when I went my 9.71 it was a full tank at 3450

ok i am at 3100 and my best is a 9.82 @ 138.7 and we basically have the same set up and both cut 1.3 shorts.

I think you have more compression and a sheetmetal intake i think your have ported 243's where i have 241's and i have quiet exhaust.... but i still should be a little faster on the top side?

damn 3100 #'s thats light. Yeh you should be a little quicker for sure hmmm :confused: I had a sheet metal intake and ported ls6 heads at the time it ran that. Now I'm going to change a few things around :)


What clutch you running?

yeah i am in the process of getting ready to convert to a LSX block and go to the 500ish-cid range, thank god for haveing a good job finally...

Currently a SPEC stage 5 twin disk, I have been working withthem for several months on it, I changed it back in july-aug and im not to happy... If i speed shift sometimes the pressure plate wont disengage fast enough and i grind but i am thinkin about going to the texzilla

I'm having clutch problems too its not holding my car anymore and I'm getting ready to go faster :jest: I'll figure something out.

just dont go auto... it seems like such a waste, even though with the powerglide my car was faster, just wasnt the same...

And if you figure someway to get a flawless clutch set up please share... I assume you have an adj master cyld. and the drill mod done to the hyd. line?

Im sure you guys have already heard the word that the Underground Racing recently broke the 6 speed record running a 7.98 @ 183. With their Twin Turbo Viper. Now is this the no shit real deal record for all 6 speeds? What record class would this fall under or is this the fastest 6 speed period? Either way that is freaking smoking and some nice shifting.
