Default Fairly new to the LS1 world

I have owned my car for a few months now and am looking to put a cam im it. The only thing done to the car so far is a lid. Im planing on doing cam, exaust, and headers. For headers im going to go with a set of coated Pacesetters and for exaust im doing my own custom set up on it, now to my main question what cam to get, im not looking for a radical cam just one to open her up a bit. So everyone give my your imputs.

The car is a stock(-the lid) 99 Trans-Am M6.

I say go with a low 230's duration cam on both intake and exhaust on a 112 lsa (maybe even a 114 lsa) with over .600 lift. I have the cam in my sig (232/238 112 lsa over .600 lift) and it sounds mean, makes great power, and idles damn well for a pretty big cam. Team that up with an ls6 intake, long tubes, ported TB, and underdrive pulley and you will have a beast. I agree with T-maxx though go big as most guys with smaller sized cams will swap for bigger cams after a while.

i would suggest something like a 228 r or a torquer 2 on a 112 .both make great power,the 228 will peak around 6200 or so and the v2 will be alittle higher,probably 6400-6500 .

If you are interested in the Torquer v2, give TSP a call. I just bought mine this afternoon with the PRC springs, ported LS6 pump, and LS2 chain.

Cant wait to get it in.

Don't decide on the LSA until you've decided on the cam's duration and lift as well, in a whole. Now, as for that Grand National, hold onto it. You'll be sorry if you don't (now ask me why I'm saying that)!

Nice sounds like a real stout cam. With all the bolt ons you could see 380+ rwhp. I vote to keep the GN! If its in sound condition and doesnt need a lot of work def keep it, those things are so badass, I would love to own one myself.

I had an 87' Grand National once upon a time, and letting it go was one of the hardest things I ever did. There getting harder and harder to come by, and will no doubt end up being one of the more highly sought after collectibles (it already is highly sought after, but there will come a time in which they are really sought after). Trust me, don't get rid of it!

Very close to cam I had in my last LS1 car. It made 382 rwhp with just a set of long tubes and a lid. My lift was 595/594 if I remember correctly. For the $ spent it wakes these cars up BIG time. Have fun
