you only looking for used? or new too?
if you're looking for used, if you havent already, check the for sale sections on ar15.com (also has a large emphasis on AKs) http://ar15.com/forums/board.html?b=7
and the sks boards http://www.sksboards.com/forum/index.php

I've never had a problem finding AKs, Maadis or Mak 90s in the various local pawn shops. The SKS guns are even easier to find, every time I go to the gun show someone has a case full of new Yugoslavian models for $100 each.

yes, just like BP said, gun shows are great... seems like there is one every other month. I know its not in houston area, but there is a cool shop called 'Military Gun Supply' on 820N in fort worth. they specialize in military **** and have walls of WWII stuff and AK's. as they are retail, their prices are a bit high on the mil-surp stuff, but its an alternative to the gunshows.

How much are you wanting to spend on an AK? You get what you pay for you know. I wouldnt spend any significant amount of money on a WASR 10 (which is what the market is flooded with right now)

Just in case there is some confusion here (and there must be in order to spend more on an SKS than an AK)
Yugoslavian SKS (typically what I see at shows for $89-$100 new in crate)
AK

First time I went out shooting with my SKS I was able to shoot 3" 3-shot groups at 100yds with the iron sites. Not too shabby for a gun designed 50 years ago, and actually manufactured over 30 years ago.
I'd still like to pick up an AK-47 to plink around with.
