Default 2000 Ls6 block engine replacement factory warranty

Is it possible a year 2000 car that had the engine replaced in 2001 due to ticking under factory warranty could have the LS6 block?

Sure, it's possible but I can't the dealership not swapping out with another LS1 instead of LS6 motor, unless something was worked out with the owner and dealership.

If GM ran low on LS1 blocks for new production vehicles in MY 01 and 02 and substituted LS6 blocks, it stands to reason they could have done the same thing for warranty replacement crate engines. This is pure speculation on my part and have nothing to back it up.

All LS1 engines from 03+ (C5,GTO) had the LS6 block, so LS1 warranty replacements from then on would most likely have had the LS6 block.

I have seen other threads saying x% of fbodys had ls6 blocks. the people in the threads had sources and seemed creditable. anything is possible if your block was replaced in 01 or later. the only real difference was cooling passages i believe. you do not gain anything by having a ls6 block as far as power. in the old threads they had ways to find out what was in the cars. try doing a search and see what comes up.

02 LS1's have about 25% LS6 blocks, how many F-body's got them nobody knows for sure. They stopped making the LS1 block for 03 even though they still used the LS1 engine in C5's and GTO's.
