Default Just swapped out my 3.50s for 2.75s

All I can say is the car is very nice to drive around in now. Finally pulls hard in first gear and I see 15psi in 1st as well.

MPH per gear is pretty cool too, at 6500 i shift out of 1st at 70, 2nd at 120 and 3rd is good for 180 mph on a 25.6" tall tire. Another nice effect of changing the gears is that on the street I can now leave at 1-3psi depending on the street (vegas streets suck). I couldn't do that with the 3.50's because it would spin. Makes a big difference from a dead stop being able to leave on just 1 psi vs vacuum, spools up much quicker.

I'm probably going to run it at the track on Friday, unfortunately they don't prep it since it's ricer night, i'm only on nittos anyways. Hoping to cut a 1.7x 60'

Any of you guys debating 2.7x's for your auto should do it if you want a nice street car.

what were your times with the 3.50 what do you think you'll run with the 2.73's? how much power are you making?

driving around town with 2.73 for me was fun. I didn't have a turbo at the time but it was alot easier to drive.

He has a 9 inch so they are 2.75's. Its making around 600 at the wheels now. It went 11.3 @124 I think with 500 rwhp and the 3.50 gears on drag radials.

I drove it last night, we logged a run.....and it seems to have lost nothing and gained drivabilty. It drives like a stocker....cruises nicely and second is just crazy to 120 mph....

did this help a lot with traction on the street as well? Also, are you noticing quicker spool?

It definately helps with traction and spoolup. The car feels absolutely awesome with these gears. I did a highway pull last night from 65, floored it and dropped to second and ran it all the way out. Every gear the car just pulls harder, it's soo weird to feel it keep pulling MORE. Logs show a tiny bit of tire spin on the 2-3 shift.

2nd gear is just NUTS the way it keeps on pulling. Racing on the freeway is going to be fun since I will not have to shift and everyone else does.

As for track times the car has run a best of 11.363 @123.55 with a 1.86 60'

Things that have changed since that pass are the following

1. much tighter stall
2. different exhaust so it spools faster and will make more boost
3. 3.50 to 2.75 gears
4. pass was made on MT drags on semi prepped track, this time will be nitto drags on a watered down (thank you FWD retards) unprepped track.

Unfortunately this car will probably not see a prepped track for a long long time due to the fact it doesn't have a roll bar. Lot's of crappy 60's in my future.

It's amazing how well turbo motors like that long gear. I think the more you drive it the better you'll like it. When you need to go to a TH400 that gear would be my first choice for a street driven car.

I'll put my guess at 11.4 at 125.5mph on a 1.9 60'. You'll shift to third just passed the 1,000 mark and cross the line under 5K rpms.

Do you think this will yeild faster 1320ft times? Obviously more fun/feel factor on the highway, just curious.

What are your tranny temps looking like after long highway driving? Do you have cooling issues with that 3K stall and low highway cruise RPMS? That the only part I'm sweating...

I have no idea what my race weight is, what ever a stock interior, 9", th400, 370 iron block car weighs I guess.

No idea on tranny temps either, I don't have a temp gage.

2001-WS6, I couldn't possibly cross under 5000 rpms unless I let off and coasted, I have shift extention to 5300 It actually feels like it picks up power once I get into 3rd.

I also don't know if it will be faster or slower in the 1/4, don't really care either since the car drives so nice and hauls ***. If it's slower in the 1/4 i'll just turn up the boost.

I'm already at a huge deficiency compared to most people on here since I live in Vegas. I have to run 2-3 more psi just to equal sea level times and dyno numbers. The equalizer is everyone else that lives here has to do the same

DA was 5500 today since it's not so hot lately.

I'm running the 3.5s right now on a 28" tire. The mph goals at the track will be what forces me to change the rear gear at some point.

There is a balance for everyone in terms of freeway noise, 60', mph and mpg. We all just have to find the right mix.

...
I'm just estimating an rpm target based on the 26" tire and mph number I tossed up. If it's actually hitting the 5300 then I might need to bump up the a mph or two.
