Default What heads are you turbo'd guys running?

I'm planning out on paper a (budget) low compression iron block 408 build. I will drive it NA for awhile before it gets any boost (I'm not to worried about the less than stellar power from a low comp. motor). I've browsed around and it seems like HPE has the best deal on a 408 shortblock. Back on topic...
What heads are you turbo guys running? Would some CNC or ported LS6 or 6.0l heads perform well or would I need to go to something like an ETP 245 for boost? Thanks for the answers, I'm new to this and may go a different route completely, just trying to get some figures jotted down to help my decision. Thanks again

Not to be up front on it but what is your whole budget and how does it lok so far???
Why a 408??? the extra money on the 4" crank can be spent in other places..... hell its almost the price of a turbo.
The drive train to handle the new found power?? ie rearend, Tranny.
Fuel system?? dont skimp there.. who's going to tune it?? MAF?? Speed density? BS3??
Id say go with a 364ci alum. LS2.
Stock crank, Good Pistons, Rods, ARP everything.
then a good set of 6.0L heads or AFR 225's.

Im running what use to be 6.0L patriots but they did the crappiest valve job ever so the whole head has been redone by Best Machine.
So they are no longer patriots.....Ended up flowing very well.

I'd either look into used 6.0 truck heads like the ones I am running (~70 cc now), or save up and go with 70-72cc aftermarket heads.

Mine are ported and polished and don't have outstanding flow numbers but they have held up okay.

Stock 6.0L truck heads with 918 springs right now... looking to P+P them and increase the valve size some... run the PP Spring kit.

I agree with Kyle. A turbo 364 is eventually what I would like to do. It should make plenty of power. A turbo 408 would be even more. I think you could spend the money elsewhere. A turbo anything and you are likely going to need a trans rebuild. That is an easy 1000$, or more. Also, if you plan to go turbo don't put those 4.10 gears in your car. Just my opinion.

To answer your question, if on a budget I would go for 6.0 heads.

I third that... 4.10's you will run out of gear before you give your turbo a chance to load and give you real power.

Why don't you go with a 6.0 iron with the stock stroke. With the 4in bore you could run some ET ls7 heads. The turbo should like the big valves.

I run 4.10's in my turbo ls1. All depends on what you're spinning the motor to. 8k in my case.

As for heads, ported stock 241's for me. Seem to work okay.

Good point, lol. I don't think too many guys will spin an engine to 8k rpm though, especially a 408. I was thinking more like 6500 rpm rev limit.

The best price??? The best Price isnt always the best deal...... Titanium intake valves and Inconel exhaust valves........
My next set of heads.......

Your Normal set of 6.0L heads from sat TSP would be about $1250 with a CNC port job and double springs........

So do most of you agree that I should look more into a low compression forged LS2 build? How much PSI can the aluminum block handle? That is why I was originally looking into the iron block 408. I don't plan on running insane amounts of boost to start with but when the time comes I do not want my block holding me back. Opinions?

That sounds pretty right to me.
