I have seen these cars before, very nice car. I believe the GT cars were the ones that came with the big aero wing apearance package as opposed to the regular firebird low profile wing. From what I heard it was only the 94 model year that it was called GT, after that it was standard fare on the TA. Hope this helps.

IF I am not mistaken the GT was the "top of the line " TA in 94-95. I believe it came with the "big" wing, and leather, CD, T tops, the works. I believe in those years you could get a TA with cloth or leather. Then in late 95 they dropped the "GT" all together in favor of making the Trans Am the top level and not having a GT trim level added.

I test drove a "GT" w/o the raised wing. I think that may have just specified that it came with all the options, like the trans ams did later. Leather, CD, etc...

i have a 94 ta gt and i never really saw any difference between it and a trans am. it didnt come with a cd player though. a friend of mine has a 97 ws6 and other than t tops and ram air his is almost the exact same as mine. my car does have a transmission perform button on the console. i heard that increased line pressure. im not sure it that was part of the package or not.

I had a 94 T/A..My car had the Formula Wing, 2.73 gears with no Z rated tires & a govenor at 110mph..I think these were some of the major differences between the T/A & T/A GT

T/A GT standard features "above" the T/A in 1994
MSRP T/A $20139.00
T/A GT $21819.00

GT option included: (code Y83) Articulating custom seats, performance axle ratio, oil cooler, color keyed bodyside moldings, front/rear floor mats, 4 way manual seat adjuster, power windows, cruise control, power mirrors with blue tinted glass, keyless entry, 10 speaker radio with equilizer, leather appointment group, and "high" rear spoiler.

Basically it really only included the performance rear axle, speed rated tires, oil cooler, keyless entry, rear defogger, leather wheel/shifter, 4 way seats with lumbar, high end stereo and the spoiler over what the T/A was the year before and year after.

It looks like it (GT) was a 94 only option package.
Interestingly enough, the "high" T/A spoiler was optional on all T/A's (except the 94 gt and the 93 Anne. Cars, and WS6 cars) until 1997 when it looks like it became standard on all T/A's.

Hope this helps..I have a few books of option codes and other things..I'd be happy to look anything up for anyone.

I'm pretty certain the "GT" was not only a '94 option, but also one in '93. It had the oil cooler, axle, seats, and always had the high spoiler.

'95+ always had the high spoiler (no GT option '95+.) I've never once seen or heard of a '95+ car without a high spoiler.

I'm just going by the factory literature I have and the two different Firebird Buyers guides I have. It lists the spoiler as being option T43, a $395.00 option.
I have seen a Bright Red 96 T/A with the "standard" Formula style spoiler.

I believe the GT option was a 94 model only, I remember looking with a friend when I was in High School and he was buying a TA (his car actually inspired me to get one) and we read up alot on the GT package. Bascially its contents was what Philhawk02 outlined.

I am pretty sure that 93's came with all luxury and performance options standard. I do believe this was the information I found when I was researching LT1 TA's before buying my car.

The performance button was on all the LT1's in those years. It really only ups the shift points and firmness. In reality the transmission goes into "performance" when you go WOT anyway, so its more or less a "fun" feature not really a performance enhancer. I think they just "refined" it out when they where updating the software during the later years. Do it really make it shift that much different?

i have also seen a 95 TA w/o the spoiler, which ironically, seemed to have every other option including TC..

my car has all but TC and the CD player

the GT was only 1994

there is also the speedo difference, TAs in 93-94 only had 110 mph where as the GT has 160 mph
