Default Trans Am owners: How to get rid of the hideous power antenna??

Well my power antenna is giving me problems right now on my 01' Formula and I could just get it replaced for free under my ext warranty but I hate power antennas so much and I think it looks so ugly, I would so much rather just replace it with a screw on billet antenna...i searched the forums but found nothing useful so does anyone know how difficult it is to replace the antenna??

Um, whats so ugly about it? Its out of sight and out of mind for me. When my head unit is on CD or AUX ( ipod ) the ant is down, but when its on radio, the ant comes up, ready for use.

Get if fixed under warranty and then trade it out to a CAMARO guy who wants a power one... You will get his stock mast and then can screw whatever type of antenna on you want.

They normally sell for $50-$75 on ebay so maybe trade your new power antenna for his stock one and $20-$30 which should buy you whatever you want...

theyre ugly when theyre up. i dont like mine either, it looks rediculous when its up. my husband always says 'it gets better reception' i dont understand how 5 inches is going to matter with the distance it already has to go....

Here is ya a pic of what I did. I also had a power turd & got rid of it. Mine was all rusted & stuck up so I talked to BitViper & got one of his antennas & a non-electric post from a Camaro salvage($10) & I couldn't be happier.

My ant must be broke. When It goes up, it goes up about a foot, then clicks for like 2 seconds then stops, when it goes down, its the same deal. I love that, its only up like a foot and works great

I think the power antenna is great...

I mean as long as it isn't broken, its down when its not in use. I do use my radio too though.... there are alot uglier things on most cars. The radio antenna is something every car on the road has, so its not like its out of place. Reception does suck without one too. I used to forget to screw my old one back in on my 94 and couldn't pick up anything.
