Default Quiet Mufflers for the Street which work??

THIS CAR IS TOO DAMN LOUD, Ha. I want to be able to drive this thing on the street and am a little concerned about how loud it is at the moment and the first time I get pulled over my street days are probably done, ha. It honestly sounds like the 346 I had when I ran it with open headers and 11.6 to 1 or so compression, but I have mufflers on the new motor . They are Magnaflow 3.5" mufflers with the 14" long case. I was always under the understanding that the magnaflows were some of the quietest mufflers you can get which also work very well too.

Any suggestions on a quieter 3.5" muffler? I'd like it to work well like the magnaflows do too if possible as I will be racing with mufflers some of the time as certain racing events will require them i'm sure.

Also, keep in mind that I have very limited room for multiple mufflers or anything like that cause of my 3.5" pipes.

Thanks.

P.S. This is for my 434 11.5 to 1 pump gas solid roller c5r headed thing a mabob

What do you think about my idea of 3" after the magnaflows with bullets?

I have dual 3in Magnaflows on an X-pipe and it is really quiet for what it is. Or at least I think so. It is quieter than my hooker cat back was. Are your magnaflows straight through? Meaning enter the center and exit at the center. Mine are offset which forces the exhaust to make a couple of turns in the muffler. Even though the turns are slight in the muffler, I think that is what keeps it from being so loud.
Just read the other thread you have linked. Mine might be quiet from the X as well. Not really sure now.

I have almost the same set-up on my car. a 3" system with X-pipe, offset inlet/center outlet mufflers with tailpipes on my Nova. It was quieter than the Flowmaster super 40 Flowmasters and a H-pipe 3" system, plus a 14 rwhp pick-up! I know dynomax super turbos are pretty quiet as well, as I've heard these on a few cars.

the magnaflows. buddy's 540 BBC in his mustang rolling around, sometimes makes you wonder if the car is even on. and the car is mid 9's n/a, so it's no slouch of a BBC.

PS - the OVAL ones, not the true round "bullet style" ones

didn't someone just put them on their f-body that was too loud? It was a cam only car that did it just a couple weeks ago. The guy with the 31" mudders on the back of his red Z28 LS1 car.. SUX2BU

They are the 3.5" oval ones and are completely straight through! This is no cam only car, this is a border line race motor. Like I said, when I had my 346 with a big cam and 11.6ish to 1 compression with open headers, it was about like this 434 c5r headed 11.5 to 1 motor is with mufflers

I think i've got a few ideas now of how to quiet her down but keep the opinions rollin!!!

Ok, been brain storming with a buddy here in the office. Think we're going to construct some of Vizard's terminator boxes and run some 2.5" dynomax/walker untral flow mufflers. That should quiet it down and according to vizard's "theory" will result in a no loss system!

If anyone is interested in the 14" long 5 x 8 case 3.5" magnaflows I have now feel free to pm me. they have all of 5 minutes run time on them at idle, no driving.

Interesting, they definately were not quiet on my car but quiet is subjective I supposed. Usually, i'm pretty loose on my defination of quiet though so maybe this thing is just damn loud, ha

Haha, no i mean "quiet". It's quiter then my car was with the spiral flo's and an x-pipe. Then again, we have two YS trimmed SBF's cruising along with him to our hang out, ones at 750RWHP and the other is being broken in, but did 1200 fwhp, haha. So THOSE are the loud cars

He called back and said that those were the ones.

you are talking about these on yours right?

he has something more along these...

So he has the smaller 3" version then? Yeah, mine are 3.5" like the first link you posted. In either event construction on the terminator boxes have started and those 3.5" mufflers are now for sale. I'm actually going to run the 3" version of these mufflers on my new setup, i've decided agains the small 2.5" based off of the vizard exhaust article. It will definately be unique, hopefully it will work well too. I'll have up some pictures in the not too distant future.

yeah, i forgot what he said size was, but they are more the "standard" style looking mufflers, not the ovals that still kinda look like bullets like yours do.

It will be interesting to see what your setup ends up sounding like, i need something quieter as well

I have been running dual 3" Magnaflows with an X pipe. Sounds mean but not crazy loud.

Honestly if you want quiet I would run dual electric cutouts and a muffler from a Cadillac... Y pipe into single muffler.

Honestly John, knowing what I know about his setup, I doubt that even a caddy muffler would keep that beast quiet!
