Does anyone have any tips for removing the side door molding (on the outside) ? Do you just pull it off or what? Also is there a product I should use to remove the glue? (goo gone or goof off?) Thanks

I just ripped mine off and rubbed the glue off with my thumb. Others like to heat it up with a heat gun of some sort that way the glue comes off a little easier and you'll have less blisters on your thumb.

Yep thats what I did except I used a plastic thing much like a credit card. Very easy to take off.

I just took the back of a hammer, you know, the prongs, and dug in. then the glue that was left, I sanded off with 80 grit sandpaper. then I globbed a bunch of black touchup paint on it. wala.

Heat gun it, then grab some fishing line/denal floss and run it behind the piece.

Then get some goo gone and viola.

You would be correct.
Hot 90 degree day, pulled off slowly by HAND, then rubbed the remaining glue off with my finger, little polish, little wax, and bye bye molding.

i pulled mine of in cold weather, if the glue stays on the molding then its easyer to remove. then i just took some break cleaner and wiped the leftovers off. i also haveg pictures in my Picture thread

so many people have problems when they take it off they strip the paint, or there is a different shade of color under there...personally i think its stupid, cause the moldin is there for a reason....one of the reasons is parking, so when stupid ***'s fling their door open into yours, the molding prevents dents. unless its an SUV then it just annhilates you door lol...but whatever floats your boat...

When taking the moldings off pull straight up and back. It makes most of the glue stay on the side moldings. I used this method and took mine off in 10 minutes.

Hmmm....a lot of useful and interesting information on this. Especially the hammer. I think ill use a sledge hammer I have and wedge an ice chisel under the modling and give it a good whacccccccccck!!!!!

unless the car has been repainted, the body color is under every piece. I removed mine about a year ago....some wax and grease remover should take the glue off

the sun makes the color often get a lighter shade and the molding keeps the paint under it darker so when you remove the molding the color can be different but thats no biggie it can be buffed out without a prob.

concerning the molding as a protection device it seems that the doors on other cars always seem to hit my car in other places than the protective moldings
