Default $100 cash to anyone who can tell me WTF this noise/vibration is.....

Here's all I can tell you.....

When I'm on the highway doing 60+ mph and I'm driving perfectly straight everything is fine except that my steering wheel is a TINY bit to the left, it's not perfectly centered. The car is alligned and drives perfectly straight on all roads. Then, when I casually turn the wheel to the right to change lanes I get a grinding noise and I can feel it with my feet. ZERO vibration in the steering wheel, just at my feet. When I turn the wheel to the left to change lanes, smooth as silk.
My brakes: I just got rid of my factory rotors (67,000 miles) and it's been doing this for the last 13,000 or so. My left front rotor was warped and I thought that was the problem. Last week I installed my new Eradispeeds, hoping it was the warp. But it's still there. The new rotor looks fine, no uneven wear yet when compared to the right rotor.
At speeds below about 55-60 it's not there at all, but the steering wheel is a tad to the left.
Now, when I did the rotor change, the left front brake pad was digging into the rotor about 1 full inch in from the outer edge. It appears that the brake pad wore in that area faster than all the other pads. I assume it did that because of the warp constantly rubbing it all the time, evan when not braking and just rolling to a stop i could hear it rub every time it made a revolution. All the other rotors and pads were just fine.

Any ideas???? I would hate to be ruining my new Erad rotor. Maybe the caliper and/or bracket is bent?????

I'm going to have it checked on Monday to see if it's a bent caliper or bracket.

I'll check whatever you all tell me to, whoever figures it out, I promise $100.

Have you checked your brake lines to make sure there aren't any tangled or rubbing on anything . That could cause it b/c if you turn it one way it wouldn't catch but the other it would and that could cause it. Just a thought. Do you have any aftermarket front suspendion parts or springs?

I am 100% factory stock. I had a brake job in May and everything was in order. Then last week my Erads were installed, the guy checked everything for me, it's all good.

I'm going to go in a different direction then everyone else is, do you have headers....if you do it might be the steering shaft rubbing against the headers.

It sounds like a left front wheel bearing because when you turn to the right you put the weight on the left front wheel bearing sometimes you need pressure on it let me know i like to help solve problems

if you dont want to spend the money on a wheel bearing switch them from left to right and see if the noise changes hub&bearings are not cheap

Have your front end checked out. Is it more of a rapid repeating noise? You may have a loose or damaged inner or outer tie rod. Could also be a bad rack mount or even a bll joint, either way get it checked out it doesn't sound like it's gonna get any better.

When you make that turn and you hear that noise, once you straighten out the wheel, is there a difference in the brake pedal?

I am the victim of a "long pedal" whereby the hubs have a small amount of play, causing the rotor to knock back a caliper piston. This results in a long stroke of the brake pedal so that it moves the caliper piston back against the rotor. It's another symptom of bad hubs/bearings.

Check for a tire rub on the inner fender liner. Mine rub the inner liner, when I turn hard.

Finally, slotted and drilled rotors will make a noise.

This has been happening for a long time with my stock factory rotors. The Erads are amazingly quiet.

Not really. It's silent when I'm straight, then a constant steady grinding sound when slightly turned to the left to change lanes. Also, when going straight, yet staying in my lane, I can take the wheel and do a bunch of quick, right center, right center, right center and for every quick right center movements, I would get the grind then quiet, grind then quiet, grind then quiet.

[QB]replace your right caliper, you can get one from autozone or pepboy for like $70(included $35 core charge), if that doesn't resolve the problem then it could be the wheel bearing. another thing to try is have the passenger stick their head out while you're turning right and make sure the noise is coming from the front instead of rear, I had similar problem happened to me like few months ago, it seems like the clunking and grinding noise was coming from front but found out it was my rear differential

Why change the right caliper?

The vibration is only felt on the drivers side floorboard, the passengers can't feel it but can hear it easily.

I found out today from ARE that my motor will be on a truck this Wednesday. Which means next week Monday my car will be in the hands of the very capable Mike Norris at Norris Motosports (he's installing my motor,tranny,rear-end, suspension and exhaust) so I'll just let him figure it out.

I will let everyone know what it was.

If your noise changes intensity w/vehicle speed on right turning then it sounds like a left wheel bearing.

That seems to be the most popular guess. How much do they cost for both front wheels and where is the best place to get them?

Also, will my tech be able to tell if there bad just by looking at them?
