Default K&N filter question

Ok this is an easy one here guys.I never had a K&N filter and mine need cleaned and oiled. It was already in the car when I bought it or I would have just got a paper one but anyway do you oil both sides or not.I read somewhere that it might get into the maf screen.I have a slp lid,slp maf and bg ram air mod that i am just doing some cleaning.Where I live you get a lot of bugs on the front of your car.

I've had the same one since '01, after cleaning it I've always let it dry, then LIGHTLY oiled both sides and let it sit overnight on newspaper before installing. The key is let it dry and do not over oil it. I run my stock filter during the process.

It will dry faster if you set it on top of a towel. The water will wick out of the filter and into the towel.
