Default HELP***press gas...rpms go...car doesn't..sometimes??

I just got back from my lunch break and on the way back my car started doing something crazy. When I put it in drive the car takes off fine, but when I am just cruising along and then give it about half throttle the rpms jump up as expected but the car doesn't go any faster?? It happened when I pressed the gas hard enough for a down shift and when I just eased into it...What the hell? Is my tranny going out? Please help, something is wrong!

That will happen when the converter unlocks into a
low-multiplication, but not-well-coupled area of
operation.

But if it just started happening look to low fluid first,
maybe a converter slip issue at low line. If you can
get hooked up to a decent scan tool you can determine
if the slip is unlocked or locked converter, in the
converter or the frictions, etc.

that sounds reasonable. i'm actually having an issue that sounds like this myself (from my other post https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/543142-converter-efficiency.html)

what should be done to look at this? I've logged on HPT and cannot visually tell what's happening. But under light throttle I can see a slight RPM decrease when it locks up.

would 70-80mph and and increase from 20-40% throttle be defined as an area low "low multiplication"? Thats where I notice my issue. How can i attack that on my TCC tables? I only notice it in 4th gear.

could be a similar issue. if what I'm explaining doesnt help define what you need help on then you need to explain more than what you're saying. I'm asking for a way to go about fixing this. maybe it would be something you need to do??
