Default Car insurance: Who do you use? (Houston)

Situation: I'm using State Farm, and the service is getting pretty lousy from my agency (James Banks). I'll leave it at that. State Farm is fine, but this agency is offering ****-poor service.

So, couple of questions...

Who are you using for insurance?
Ever had a claim? Experience?
Name of agency/phone number?

I've got no idea of where to go to, but I need to find something different. I believe State Farm is one of the better companies as far as claims (Allstate being one of the worst). I've got a clean record, and I'm over 25, FWIW. Not looking for the cheapest online deal of the day, but a company that offers service that I can call and they'll take care of me.

Our agent has been really good to us, lots of claims, always treated us right. We use State Farm, if you have problems with an agent, screw them, plenty would like your business.

You want a pleasent surprise? Look into AAA (the auto club). I had to add my kid and the rates went down from Allstate and Progressive. They're paying to have the Firehawk fixed right now thanks to my GF. Well, it's her car but still.

Thanks guys. I'm going to make some phone calls today. If anyone is interested in the results, I'll be happy to post them.

Question: I'm pretty sure they run a credit check as part of their rate calculation. Is this true? If so, everytime they run a credit check your score goes down a few points. Not a good thing!

My state farm agent was always the cheapest for me by far, but they wouldn't let me and fiance have a joint policy together until we were married even though we live together. I switched to an agency out of Austin that sells safeco policies. They do their quotes from their website www.gettexasinsurance.com

Their customer service has been great so far and I am paying less a month for 3 cars 2 drives than I was paying for me and my car w/ st farm

Nationwide. Totalled a car in Nov. Check issued forthwith.
I would say that is pretty good. I have been with him for 13 years though.

2001: Ill hit you up between now and Monday.

FWIW, I tried Nationwide today and they quoted me over 2x the price I'm paying. I'm paying 660ish/6months for an 01 Z06 ($1000 deductible, 100/300/100) and Nationwide quoted me 1300ish/6mos

Geico, after looking at different companies when I saw their rate I jumped right on it before they changed their mind, or claim it was an error. I re newed last month and got an $8 dolar discount, plus their comercials are entertaining.

I have used nationwide for the last 11 years (since 16), they are geared toward drivers around my age so the rate is pretty good. I also get some extra discounts. I checked other places here recently and couldn't find anything cheaper.
