Help me pick a catback!!
Hey guys I am looking to buy a catback this week or hopefully when I get home from work today. I want to spend under $600 and still have a nice sounding exhaust. I am advantually gonna put headers on. I was wondering what you guys were running and if your were happy with it. I don't want a loud mouth.lol. But I am still very interested in the dual/dual. If anyone knows of a sponsor that has a good deal let me know. Thanks in advance guys!

My vote is for the Hooker catback. Can be picked up for a little over $300 if you look around, sounds awesome with stock headers or long tubes and is quiet when you want it to be. Also is easy to install and seems to be holding up very well on my car.

Yea, go ahead & spend that much just for a cat-back.
You could get Pacesetter LT's/TSP ORY from TSP for $500 & a individual Hooker Aerochamber muffler from a local parts shop for $80. Pay a shop to weld in the muffler, install the ORY & put your headers in yourself. You might spend around $650 total & have full exhaust.
Get the most for your money, unless your loaded & have it to waste.

If you're lookin for bang for the buck, if you go with hooker or magnaflow you'll be happy. Don't listen to these guys goin for the way high end ones unless you're ready to dish out the money for minimal gains in HP. If the sound's still not where you want it, a nice set of mid-length headers or longtubes will make either catback sound REAL nice

I think the magnaflow tips leave something to be desired.

argh bunch of cheapskates.
look, your exhaust should be something you like. don't go out and buy the cheapest thing. you gotta drive this and listen to it whenever you drive it.
yes, a hooker catback is a good deal at ~$350. a magnaflow is a good deal at ~$400. but they're quiet. and what if you don't like the tone?
IMO, an exhaust system isn't about the best bang for your buck. it's about getting your car to sound like what YOU want it to sound like. if you like the tone of a $700 GMMG system, spend the money or you'll regret it for as long as you own your car.
headers are something that you should try and find the best deal for. they all dyno nearly the same, you don't see them and they'll all make your exhaust sound the same in the end. your exhaust ISN'T like headers. buy it based on tone, not on price. what's the point of dropping $400 on a system that you don't like just to save some money when for an extra $200 more you could have had the sound you always dreamed of having?
don't listen to these guys. go to www.ls1sounds.com and find the exhaust you like the best. go out and find people with f-bodies and listen to the exhaust in person. don't research prices, go in there unbiased. if you like the $300 system, get the $300 system. if you like the $700 system, save up and get it. this is NOT something you should cheap out on or you'll live to regret it.

I have Hooker w/ cats and Mac headers. It's not quiet and when you get on it you can hear it loud and clear. Sounds like an iron block till you get to the 4000 rpm range and then it gets in to a higher pitch. A little rasp @ high rpms. but not bad.

There are a lot of systems out there under 600. Check out http://ls1sounds.com/ to see what's out there. Then buy the one you like.

Well, I started with the Dual/Dual. It was good, but not loud enough for me. When I was in California, like a dumbass, not knowing, I had a flowmaster installed. Fastforward to now. Still have the Crapmaster. BUT, I got longtubes and ORY. I know that I have compromised performance, but it does sound good. Others that I have heard are the LM2. And for what its worth, my car with ONLY Flowmaster, was louder than my buddies with shorties and LM2. Just better flowing. But after all that. I would say Magnaflow or Hooker. Id pick Magnaflow. Good Luck!!
