You can squeeze a 295 onto a 9.5" rim but its not recommended. 285 is about as big as you want to go and 275 is a safe bet. The way I look at it though is that you have a small bit of leeway. BMW has put out some vehicles with tires on them that are recommended for rims a half inch bigger than what is actually on the car so I figure you have a half inch to stretch on. I wouldnt go over that though.
