Default Safe RPMs on a stock bottom end with springs

I seem to be getting largely varying answers to this question, so I thought a poll would be prudent. If you've got a set of aftermarket springs (Crane Cams double springs, in my case) but a stock bottom end, what is a safe RPM to rev the car up to?

I am using the comp 921's and currently my rev limiter is set at 6800 rpms. When my next stuff goes on, and my new 921's go in I am having the rev limiter raised to 7100 rpms. LG Motorsports claims that isn't even the max at what these valve springs can handle. Good luck with your setup. Don't miss any shifts that all I can say.

What year are you talking about I"m assuming 2002? I'm pretty sure they changed the rod bolts in the 2001's and they can handle around 6800 rpm.

I voted 7,000. I have a stock bottom end pistons rods crank but I do have ARP rod bolts. I 'm not sure if this is enough consider it no longer a stock bottom end. If the rod's bolts where stock and I had a 98-00 I would just hope my luck held outand go to 6800, and a 01-02 I would go to 6800 and feel a little safer, cause hey other people do it all the time.

Good springs, good lifters, and ARP rod bolts = 7200-7400 RPM

Stock bottom end = stock rod bolts = 6500rpm on the older rod bolts. Even with the new ones I wouldn't go past 6800.

The redline on a stock Z06 is 6500 i believe, 02 and up, so is it safe to say that you could go to 6800 without problems up the road on an LS1 that is newer than 2002? The rod bolts like has been said earlier were changed in 2002.

What about the oil pump in these engines? What really is the difference between the LS1/LS6 oil pumps? I think that is something to take into consideration.

I wouldn't go over 6500 on 98-00 rod bolts. 01-02 and I'd feel alright goin' to 6800.

I would go between 6,500-6,800 safely with the aftermarket springs you have. Good luck.

yeah, 02+ z06 is 6600 rpm. I believe mid year 2000 and later lsx engines got the updated rod bolts. I spin my 2002 to 6800 from time to time. I have a ton of oil pressure still, even with 105K miles. Im not too worried.

The stock rods bolts are the weak point in the bottom end. RPM is the killer in these stock bottom end setups. I figure I will spin the crap out of mine unitl it lets go. Then break out the emergency credit card and build a new motor.

Ive heard of lots of people spinning 7K+ without trouble on an 01+ stock bottom end... I wouldnt trust going that high with my daily driver personally though...
