Oh my good lord......
^^man those things are RIPPING on the top end!....but I heard they "hit a wall at 108mph"....
When I was 16, I took my mom's 92 grand marquis to the strip (mainly to do a burnout....). First time ever racing the damn thing went 16.9 at 81 (or 84 mph)

That is the funniest thing I've read in months. I especially like the reference to a "jap bike" by somebody driving a Prius...not to mention the fact that the delusional moron thinks he kept up with the bike. Maybe an EX250 with a 300lb guy on it...but that's about it.

he prius tops out at 108... yeah.. i know.. it does 107 easy.. does 108 easy.. and you still get 15mpg... but that's it.. you can't go faster than 108.. trust me.. i tried when racing an M3 down a highway.. all downhill.. only reason he beat me ( i had low profiles on the car) is because he tops around 150.

This is what I've came up with as the best way to drag race a prius based on only what i've read:
- Charge the battery to full by holding the gas and brake all the way down till the engine shuts off.
- Launch the car in "B" mode because it will pre-load the engine to "launch"
- Of course try to have as little fuel as possible
I think I should be able to hit somewhere in the mid 17 second range. (hopefully) which is actually not bad.

wow, i'm so upset right now. i think part of me actually wants to kill. this "dennis" guy needs to be punched in the face.
i can't believe people can be so stupid. they're talking up 104hp like it's something to brag about. my 3.4L V6 firebird, the most ridiculously slow car i've ever driven would absolutely SMOKE a prius...in 2nd gear start! they listed 0-6mph times!!! honestly! zero to SIX! who races to 6 mph?!?!?!?!?!?! ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!
i'm gonna try to race one on my commute home today. according to this thread, it'll be a good race. i mean, they can beat a viper.

Hello all. I'm new to the boards here and look forward to learning absolutely as much as I can about my new 2006 Prius. I picked her up slightly used with only 3k miles on the clock. I got a killer deal
At any rate, I'm interested in Auto-Crossing and drag racing my car here locally and am curious as to what I can do as far as engine modifications, and significant suspension upgrades. As far as a budget, I'll spend whatever it takes to get quality parts.
This is also my DD so please keep that in mind if you make a recommendation. As of now, I squeezed two black Recaro SRD seats in there and fabricated my own seat mounts to the stock sliders. The car also has a six-point welded in roll bar. Harnesses are on the way.

One thing that I feel is going to be hard to over come is the fact that the Prius has a Torsion Beam in the rear. This is going to cause unwanted suspension characteristics in the form of unwanted toe and camber problems and quite possibly some binding somewhere.
I know the prius was never made for racing and is just a little **** box commuter car, but I figured 'why not'? At least I can auto x and still get 55mpg.

I have no problems with your wanting to auto X or drag race your Prius; but please do not refer to it as a "**** box". This is a pretty incredible car for all it is. Believe me I have had a ton of cars and really love driving my Prius. At present my 2001 Acura NSX sits in the garage next to it. Soon it is going to have either a new SL500 or a Carrera S sitting next to it. THe Prius holds its own with those cars in my opinion. The Prius is the Ferrari of Hybrids......
