poor performance and flow. this should be in the external engine section.

BTW, it's just the 80 series catbacks for LS1's people dislike. the single chamber mufflers for true duals flow great.

yes, they make 40 series.

I work at an exhaust shop and 90% of people want Flowmaster, so I'm just sick of everything sounding the same.

For what its worth, my stock car with the flowmaster was louder, at idle, cruise and WOT than my buddies LM2 with shorties and cats. I think that they sound great with LT's and ORY. That my setup now. In a couple of weeks (2), I will make the final decision on how weak it is. DOing a H/C swap, with 4.10's and a Cutout. I will dyno the car through the Flowmaster and then cutout open. Watch for the posts and resualts.

I have the 80 series on my car, no I didnt pay for it, don't worry. It sounds decent, but flow like crap as said. That's why I have dual cutouts to bypass that crap.

Oh and for what its worth, I didnt pay for mine either. Once I see the dyno numbers, if they are more than 10 RWHP (which I wouldnt be surprised if its 15) I will change it out for something that flows better

I've had 3 different setups using Flowmasters. First on my '98 T/A, I ran the 80-series, but it was too quiet, so I put a single 40 series 2-chamber on it, it was somewhat louder without being obnoxious. Then I had 3" TDs on my '02 Z and used the 1-chambers. Perfect sound, but damn loud too. If you have to use an 80-series replacement muffler, I'd atleast run a cutout too.

Not only did mine sound weak (compared to the Borla catback which came next) but like two months after the headers and ory went on it blew a hole in one of the welds. POS all around.

Yea Flowmaster is overused on everything.....Yea it might sound good.....but is restrictive as ****.
That dyno chart speaks for itself.....If u want good exhaust....Tx Spd Rumbler! ! 200$ 3 in exaust. Its really free flowing but a bit on the noisy side. But hell Im running 400ft lbs of tourque with just a cam headers that exhaust and a lid!

Flowmasters.. bahh.. Its a tired old sound run into the ground wih extreme overuse in the mid-late 90's. I remember seeing lines of Fox Body mustangs all with the EXACT same flowmaster exhaust and K&N filters.. lol! I don't even know how people like the sound of them.. Every car with Flowmasters on them has a horrid resonance in car and the Dyno #'s speak for themselves.

I second the TSP Rumbler. I bought mine on GP $200 a long while back with no tips. then just clamped a couple turndowns on.

very few people out there disagree with flowmaster sounding good. they consistently engineer their exhausts for sound, not flow. if you want a flowmaster that flows good and sounds even better, get their 10 series single chambers on true duals. THAT is flowmaster engineering for a race environment, and what do you get? a great flowing muffler that sounds awesome. don't know flowmaster. their exhaust is designed for looks, budget and sound, not performance. that's why they sell so many.

In case you guys are wondering why those dyno numbers in that sheet look so low, it's because my car came with a 117 mph speed limiter that cut the fun short on the dyno in 4th gear. To get a better handle of higher rpm performance, we ran the car with the flowmaster in 3rd gear. When I switched to the B&B I did another 3rd gear run which is what you see up there, just so I could see the improvement in power in the higher rpms. In the mean time, the speed limiter is gone.
