Default do all turbo cars run hot or is it just the design of mine?

my car loves to run at 200 all the time, then 240+ after a real blast. what the hell is this all about. i dont dare run the AC.

i would assume incon kits tend to run hot, but what about you single turbo fbody guys with the turbo up where the battery use to go or wherever it is you put it. what temps do you guys see? on a 70 degree day my **** still gets to 220.

You probably already know that my car runs hot - 213 in the evening and 227-230 in 105deg heat stop and go traffic, so I try and avoid long trips in that but work is 7 miles away.

My open downpipes dumping in the engine bay isn't helping the situation, I really want to buy a tubular kmember and get some exhaust on the car with heat wrapping, I'm hoping that lowers the ambiant temp enough to get under 200 in the evening and sit at 210-220 in big heat.

If anyone has other ideas besides wrapping exhaust I'm sure lots of people would be intrested.

The high temp pretty much dictates the airflow across the radiator,-radiator size and water pump used. We've run alot of big cube FI cars with stock radiator's but the front of the cars are wide open for airflow.Never an overheating car, exp. after hard runs.

I run a 16h x 25w x 3d Radiator, 2600CFM fans but my radiator sits behind a Griffin A2A and there is nothing behind the radiator. I have considered getting a identical set of fans and putting them BEHIND the radiator to pull so one pushes one pulls, that should flow a lot more air

3 inch thick radiator is a lot for electric fans to pull through. I'd find a thinner core.

Has anyone set up any of the available Turbo systems in a Road Course ready track car. Because I would love to get a single for my car. But the thing would have to endure 20min sessions or 3,000 to 6,000-6,500 rpm for 5 sessions in your typical Open Track day. That 2 hrs of flogging per track day. I can see it working good in an AutoX car where you do 30sec to a minute six or so times in a day.

Mine does because I custom installed one. The trick is to keep it isolated from the radiator....same thing LPE does with the twin IC's....I have a good 5 inches between the IC and the radiator...plus there is a divider between them.

BTW, If I start a 1/4 mile run at 180F it doesn't get to 190 at the end per EFI Live.

I run all day under 190 in 85-90* temps.. run it hard and it'll hit 220. 100plus temps and I could only drive it at 75% on the canyon twisties. No way it'll survive a track day.

Bigger cubes on a stock radiator w/o a shroud but will be replacing it with a DeWitts and relocating what I can then shrouding big time.. I'll follow up w/ results.

i have a not so wide radiator 19x22 with double 1.25" cores, stock thermostat and run 180*-200* have a 16" 2950cfm fan (permacool)
are you judging by the stock temp gauge or aftermarket, my stock gauge says 220* and pretty much stays there.

stock readiator keeps mine cool unless I sit and idle for a long time, then it will get to 230* but if Im cruising or racing...its 180-190*.

How much help you guys think will the "SLP" radiator make?

I use a aftermarket one and back it up with BigStuff3 logs, I don't remember does the stock gauge just stop reading past 220?

It would help if everyone noted which gauge they're using for the temp... my aftermarket reads significantly higher than my '98 stock gauge.

yeah id like to know this as well, just a bit better than stock, same width, so the fans wont choke when pulling air across. i think itd help...who knows.
