Talking Tooled a 911 Turbo cant believe it

3 days ago on an open road up the street from my house i was cruising around 65 mph(speed limit was 50 in the area) when all the sudden an older guy in a 911 turbo comes riding up my ***. some one was in the right lane at the time going about the same speed as me so i pull up a little bit to give him room and bam! he pulls hard around me(staring at me the whole way) gets about half a car length a head of me and i slam down the pedal. it took me to get to 115-120 mph when i pulled on him, i got up to about 130mph and just went in front of him in the right hand lane. I chuckled, what a pompous bitch this dude was, either he couldnt drive or 911 turbos are a bith overrated cause i know im only puttin down about 430rwhp at most

What year/model was the 911?
They are all over the board performance wise depending on which package and year of production.
the slowest are mid 13's, with some dipping into the 11's.

Overrated?

Think about it.

That 911 Turbo if it was a 996 is likely stock, rated at 415bhp. Puts down around 370whp, and the car weighs around 3400lbs. Not reallly suprising a car with 430whp rwd can pull on a awd car up top. Even though it took awhile.

Look at any road course competition, one lap for instance a 996 TT is always on the top 5. Overrated I think not.

996 911 Turbo's stock are good for low 12's@116-118(high 11's are possible) If they have the X50 package, they can rip high 11's easier and trap a few miles per hour higher.

The 997 911 Turbo has been test already to an 11.3@122. I can't wait to see what the X50 package will bring.

BTW: I love porsches.

Good kill.
My friend has a 1.7L Kenne Bell GT(2002). Put down 417whp, he also pulled a 911 Turbo. Twas his last race, his trans went shortly after. Afew hours?

not sure what model it was just brand spankin new(was clearly a rich older guy) couldnt tell what stage GT1, GT2, GT3 just said 911 Turbo on the back. i still think its surprising with mine being an A4 at that speed i could see off the line no problem id destroy him but i thought they were pretty nasty up top

Off the line he may be neck and neck. I bet it was a triptronic turbo as well.

sub 4 0-60 is easy for these cars.

It wasn't a GT1. The GT2's are beasts that actually say GT2 on the back. The GT3 is a N/A car, not turbo. There aren't stages from Porsche, unless it's a Turbo with the X50 package as Ubergeist already stated. The X50 makes about the same power as a stock GT2, which is not AWD. You never know what you are gonna get with a 911/964/993/996-7 Turbo. The earlier (964) single turbo cars were very capable of making serious power and they were just rear wheel drive. The latter models can be made into absolute monsters as well.

A couple years ago, I saw 2 brand spanking new 911 Turbos arrive at test-n-tune. They each ran and they each were asked to leave (11.9 with no roll bar). Over rated? No way.

Nice kill!

Jon's spot on. Even the earliest of the turbos, the 930, can be made into beastly cars with someone who knows what they're doing. Lag was their biggest problem (very fixable these days), and their second biggest was the crappy Bosch CIS fuel injection. Fit an aftermarket PEFI and some turbo mods and 4-500 hp is very attainable, in a sub 3000lb car it makes for brisk performance.

The AWD 911s launch like a bat outta hell, but even without it the RWD cars launch pretty damn well with all that weight sitting out back. There are few stock cars out there that'll squat and go like a RWD 911, which is why they always seem to put up better numbers than their HP and TQ would seem to justify.

Dont even get me started on the shitty Bosch CIS! A buddy just got done with about a years worth of headaches on his GT2 prepped 928. It's an '80 Euro 4.7 motor. He's doing some Porsche Club races in it soon hopefully. 12" wide slicks all around look mean on a 928 let me tell you!

I destroyed a new Porsche Turbo last year from a 50-punch and then my buddy pulled about a car-and-a-half on the same one in his 1997 Viper GTS. The Porsche driver (an older guy) was super-cool and was thumbs up and pumping his fists despite losing. They aren't my favorite cars, but decently quick and have panache.
