Default Will 5.3L heads up my hp on an LS1?

I have an assembled set of 5.3L heads with casting number 706. Does anyone know the stock flow numbers for these? Also, will my compression ratio go up or down? will positively affect my hp?

I just really need to see how much better these heads are, and if they are worth keeping. Thanks guys.

The stock 5.3 heads have a 1.89 intake valve and a 3.800 bore chamber, so they have more compression but flow less air due to the much smaller valve and chamber diameter. The heads when properly ported will outflow and outpower a 5.7 head with the same treatment, but gettting the chamber correct is critical. We have a killer CNC program for those heads that gets the flow up to around 315 cfm, here is a link to the info, you can deduct $300 from the price for already having the castings. http://www.totalengineairflow.com/pr.../gmhead/gmls1/

Here's my free opinion.... You get what you pay for...they are a proven ported head that many people (including me) would recommend...and I went through some budget heads before I bought my TEA 1.5s...good luck.

Its true, without opening up the intake valve, these heads will not net you anything, and will likely lose power. Youre probably better off selling the heads and buying a set of CNC ported ls6 heads.

opening up? do you mean boring out the valve hole? or porting the intake runners? or both? I have the capability to port the entire head myself, but maybe not bore it out, unless i can do it with a craftsman, hahahahaha jk

Installing a larger valve, valve seat, valve job and opening up the valve throat, just to get it on par with a stock ls1 head.
