Default Whats the best clutch for 500-600rwhp?

Yeah I need to upgrade my clutch here shortly and was wondering if there was a clutch that would have this range of rwhp? 500rwhp-600rwhp? Also please post up any issues you have had with the clutch...pedal engadgement, noise ect? I just want a good solid clutch that I can beat up a little bit if I want to. Thanks guys...also my car is a 02 Z06 if that matters.

depends on what tires you plan on running, a vette cant dump a clutch, dead hook and live very long on that kinda power anyway, so you have to find a clutch that wont smoke itself slipping it with that kinda power

not really sure, not sure how well the spec 5 holds up with a iron disk if you slip it, i know the ram clutches offer shims to make it slip a hair so it dont hit as hard, so maby those would work well

My RPS has been holding ~600rwhp for about 3k miles now, its an excellent allround clutch. Talk to Al at www.thelapd.com, tell him what you are looking to do with the car, and he can confirm the reccomendation. They had the clutch in stock and gave me a very good price and excellent service (if you are in CA, definitely talk to them).

spec stage 5 or a ram will definatly hold just accelerating, youd be lucky to need that on the street unless your running slicks, lol, tires will give way first

+1 for the RPS. Mine has been holding fine for about 10k now. Lots of abuse from me too!

I run my car on the streets so I need a clutch that doesnt take a sledghammer to mash down. So you guys vote for the spec stage 5 or the ram? How hard is pedal engagement?

both have a stiffer pedal but neither are that bad, i daliy drove mine for months in traffic, now if money isnt a problem, id get a mcleoud street twin, holds alot of power from what i hear, pedals lighter than most

I've got a Spec 5 and I dump it, not slip it like you have to in a Vette. A number of guys have said the 5 should not be slipped because the sintered iron disk is only for on/off use, and slipping it will destroy it in short order.

Right now I'm using a local places clutch.. I was optimisic on using it at first but I got talked into it from a buddy that has a 2002 Trans AM with spray putting down 550 rwhp and it has been working out great. I have I'd say close to 600 rwhp on the spray and it has been holding up great for about the 5 months I've had the spray on. I drive on Nitto's daily but at the track have some M/T ET Street radials and it holds up with the high RPMS launches and hasn't slipped yet. It's a called KY Clutch it's a dual ceramic clutch, only local people have probably heard of it.

The RPS is smooth as butter. My only complaint is it is a little too light for my drag car. oh well just launch at 5500.

I make 450 to the wheels right now and have a Ram twin disk clutch. It drives smoother than stock and is holding up to the task at the track as well. Ram claims it will hold up to 900 hp. This is in my Z06 btw.
