Default how much $ for cam install

How much should I pay for a cam install including, all gaskets, new timing chain, hardened push rods, labor and dyno tune on a stock ls1 with headers and lid at a professional shop?
Also, do I need titanium retainers for a 224/224/113 cam?

A lot of things are going to effect your price.
Pushrods $100
timing chain 50-150 depending on what you get my ls2 cost me $40
gaskets and fluids 100-150
The comp 921 kits that includes springs, Ti retainers, hardend seats and seals can be had for abour $520 smaller kits are cheaper.
The Patriot golds are in the $300 range I think for all the same stuff.
I think you ment Ti retainers NOT Ti rockers but TI retainers are a good idea
Dyno tune $500
Not sure how much a Proffesional shop will charge for labor to install the cam and stuff but I just know what I have been charging my friends to insall there cam's

Hope this helps

I would budget aside $1000 for the cam, gaskets, and all the valve train parts. Throw in another $1000 for a professional install/dyno tune. You may come out a little under budget this way, but I would rather have left over money than wait on a paycheck to get my car back on the road!

Mine ended up being an outrageous $1500, I already had the parts, they did the ol stick the rods in the oil gallery trick and apparently it took forever to swap out springs since they didn't have the nifty spring compressor tool that they sell.

IIRC, I paid $350-$400 for the cam install with pushrods and PRC duals. I had all the gaskets and what not needed for the install.

Not certain how helpful this is, but there was a guy advertising cam swaps for $200 labor in the Sponsor Specials & Group Purchases forum, recently. I think his shop is in Ohio. That is a really good price.

Just wondering because I've seen a range of prices from 1450 to 2100. I will pay, but I don't want to get raped.

If I was doing it for someone I'd have to charge them 200-300

Me and my wife are going to start my Heads/Cam swap next weekend. Save your money, buy more parts with the money and get a good dyno tune. Good luck.
