stock lifters are fine, get new pushrods though, the stockers are brittle when you put a bigger cam in and will break, I put comp pushrods in mine, stock length 7.4.

If you have a high mileage car, you might want to consider replacing the lifters. As already mentioned, get some new hardened pushrods, stock ones are weak in comparison to some hardened ones.

Springs and pushrods are definately recommended...lifters also if you got some mileage on them.

Now having said this...I still have stock pushrods in my motor. I have hit the 7000 limiter many many many times, missed shifts, and went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th once at the track. Motor still runs fine. No ticking, nothing. Pushrods were recently checked and all are still straight as an arrow.

Yes, that is what I thought when I did it. Ripping through the gears at the track...go for the 3-4 shift and bam, rear end is hopping and chirping the tires!!! I thought for sure I was going home in a tow truck, but I broke nothing. Made it two more rounds and drove the car home 1.5 hours from the track.

This motor has seen alot, that I figured would royally mess something up....runs perfect though. Believe me when a pushrod goes, it wont surprise me, but I have about 10k miles on the motor and not a single problem...just the driver.

Well, I put in a cam real similar to a LGx3 with 74k. I did all the other supports, ie LS6 pump, LS2 timing chain, PRC duals, Comp pushrods installed at a reputable shop and I've already ate up a lifter after 6k miles. I don't beat on my car and I've only been above 5k rpms right around a dozen times or so, honestly. If you have any type of real mileage, I would change them.

Misshifting stock pushrods at 7000RPM

And yes, change them while your in there changing the cam. There's no reason not to when you have the opportunity.

I'd do some digging to find out exactly what size pushrods you'll need. Everybody told me to put stock length pushrods in (7.4") with my F14 cam, but then a lot of people complain about their engine sounding like a sewing machine. After talking to a few people I figured out I needed 7.425" pushrods with my F14, and I have no sewing machine sound whatsoever. Just some advice.

i have the exact same cam in my car (MTI X1) and i have the stock pushrods. just took my engine apart for a rebuild and pushrods are straight as an arrow. I hit the limiter ALOT!! lol even while spraying (reason for rebuild) the truth is you will be fine, but while you have the rockers off there is no reason not to drop them in. they are under $100 bucks. I didnt put them in cause i didnt have them when i time for the install

stock lifters are fine. only reason why id replace them is if they had lots of miles. roller lifters dont really wear out.

as for the pushrods, on a lower mileage motor with a mildish cam stock pushrods would be fine, but if you had more miles, a big cam or an extra $1-200 id deffinatly do them. they are known to bend and loose hp, not a danger to the motor, just a loss of hp
