magic stick 4 cam, headers, exhaust. You'll have more than 400 rwhp.

Everyone else will give you a different way to make that power. Its not that difficult to get big numbers and still be reliable with an LS1.

if we're talking crank, all you need are headers, a catback, a lid, a FTRA/SSRA and a tune. in fact, you'll probably be over 400 bhp. if you're talking whp...i'm one of those guys that would rather get their heads done than get a cam...so i'd get a set of ported LS6 heads or something like that. heads are so much more economical gas-wise than a cam

no one has said nitrous yet
its very reliable when you not using it and if you have all the safety equipment then it will still be realiable.

but also a nice cam and full bolt-on car with a good tune will be great.

ChocoTaco: You're talking heads, how much is heads compared to cam in hp/$ in retail and install-price.

yea, it's a toss-up i'd rather give my money to the sponsors than to the middle east. heads can actually increase mileage, they're less damaging to the engine since they don't require as much bottom end work as big cams (i'd get heads that maintain stock compression), they make your exhaust good and loud without changing idle quality for a good sleeper, they're as close to a bolt-on as engine work gets...i'd personally rather get my heads done than a cam, but that's just me. besides, you can get a set of heads for a little over a thousand dollars, plus they come with springs, retainers and all that good stuff. with a cam you're looking at at least $600 once you buy a good spring kit. it's not THAT much more money for heads unless you get a good set like edelbrock's or AFR's.

Ok, but how much for a cam-set and a heads-set?

I think I can install both of them with a little help on the way. Just not sure which way to go. It's my daily-driver, running about 80miles/month in just work. Will I do fine with an average cam?

What type of HP gains can you get from just doing heads only. I've really never thought about that. I was looking to do a cam only on my car also.

Full bolt on's and a 224 cam. Perfect for the street and will make great torque throughout the rpm range.

Probably not 400rwhp but still a great street combo

I have all the Bolt-ons and just a cam on my DD. I have 401 HP at rear wheel. I am looking at heads.

I'll thow in my two cents like everyone else is doing. I'd go with a small camshaft with non-aggressive lobes so you'll have good valvespring life.

An older 221/221 would fit this bill. Add a Fast 90/90 intake manifold, and you'll see over 400 at the wheels. It will have a VERY livable idle, and will make smooth power throughout the range. Gas milage should remain excellent, and drivabiliy will not be affected.

That's the setup I'm going with, but instead of the fast 90/90, I'm going with a set of budget heads (Dart 205s).
