Break in Clutch? (Searched)

Break in Clutch? (Searched) Do clutches need broken in like gears or an engine? I got my SPEC 3 put in and drove it around yesterday. Loved it like no other. No chatter, stock like feel but low, push button action. Oh man, I loved it. After a bit of driving it, I'll write a review. But, I was scared to take it over 4000, because I didn't know if you're supposed to take it easy on it for the first 100-300 miles.

i believe that the main thing is that you're supposed to put it through some heat cycles.
some people drive their clutches 250 miles, some 500 miles for a break in period,... some people go out straight to the track.
personally i'd go 400-500 miles, its better to be safe than sorry.

Ya I just put in my LS7/LS2 in my WS6 and I love it, I currently have almost 200 miles on it and I have babied it the 1st pretty much 100 but now it feels totally like stock and grabs damn good, I have brought it up to 4000rpms but not really anything past that and when I did that I wasn't quick shifting or anything just pretty much rowing through the gears nice and smooth but the clutch feels great I can't wait until right around 500 miles and I can acutally see how she grabs the gears

especially with a spec 3, go easy on it for the first 400-500 miles. City driving is perferred for that since you use the clutch alot more in city driving, so if you drive mostly highway, then go longer than that

Got ahold of SPEC. Paul told me to "take it easy" for at least 500 miles. I asked him if high (~4000) RPMs had anything to do with taking it easy and he said no, just no high RPM clutch dumps off the line. That's good because in DD conditions, I shift at 4-4.5k.
Didn't ask him about heat cycles.
GAH!!! I want to tear into this thing sooo bad!!!

Just be patient. Ive had my LS7 in for around 600 miles and its finally ready to be played with a little. I would definately wait to do ANY hard launches untill 400-500 miles. Alittle caution and patients will go a long way. Did I spell patients right???

Just got my textrailia installed and minimal chatter and great engagement so far. Only 80 mi on it though. High rpm vs launches makes sense. You dont' want to glaze the clutch, just wear it in and allow the surfaces to mate properly. After 500mi the bonding agents should be mostly gone and you can drive more aggressively.

When I bought my ram their website said they didnt require a breakin...but I suppose all clutches are different materials and what not. I've been beating mine since day 1, about 2.5k miles later and still loving it.

I think it's good to be easy on it for a while as well. Lots of stop and go driving will get it broken in fast, just DON'T slip it anymore than necassary. And as already stated bringing the revs up isn't what hurts it, but hard launches or alot of slipping will.
