Thumbs up Ran a pullied '04 Cobra

I just got out of class a while ago, and I'm pulling out of the campus parking lot when I notice a mystic chrome vert cobra in front of me. While on the drive home (a 4 lane country road with a grass median) I start pacing him to see if he's interested. We drive next to each other for the next mile or so and he revs so I know he's interested.

Once we have a nice open stretch of road ahead of us, we line up at 30mph. I believe we were both in 1st, I give the three honks and we're off. 1st gear winds out quickly, I hit 2nd gear and chirp the BFG's, he shifts into 2nd also but can't hear his tires over that blower whine! By this point we're still pretty much even with him maybe at my rear fender. My shiftlight turns on, I go for 3rd and he stays in 2nd a little longer before shifting. He's still at my rear fender. We wind out 3rd and here's where I gain a little more, maybe 3/4 of a car. We then shut down before shifting into 4th with me ahead by a little more than a car length.

After we shut down, he gets next to me again for another round. We line up again at 30mph, and go on the third honk. This race ends real early because I hit the rev limiter in 1st (hey, I was a little excited ). So we line up again, this time with him honking. This race netted the same results as the 1st one.

We match speeds, he rolls down his window and asks for one last race. So me being the race deprived college student that I am, I oblige. He rolls up his window (top up), while I leave my windows down. We go on my 3rd honk and off we go again. This race is very similar to the other ones, with us winding out the top of 3rd and me being about 1 1/2 cars ahead.

So we match speeds one more time and talk mods. I ask if he's swapped pullies, he says yes. Then I ask if he's tuned his car, and he tells me he has. He then asks me my mods and I tell him H/C and bolt-ons. Out of curiousty I ask him how much power he's putting to the wheels, but he doesn't know because he hasn't had his car dynoed. I let him know he should put down about 460rwhp and he agrees that's what he has heard his numbers should be. I didn't ask him about any other mods, so I have no idea what else he has, except for an aftermarket exhaust for sure, looked to me like Magnaflow.

So right now, I'm pretty stoked. He was on Nittos from what I could tell on his stock wheels and I was on my Bogarts with BFG drag radials. None of us had passengers. Does this seem right for my mods, I thought he would end up pulling on me since I'm only putting down 411rwhp (stock 243 heads and a small TR224 cam)?

Hey man, good kill. Thats about right too. You should be around 410-430rwhp. You have the same setup almost identical as I did on my 99 SS. Awesome. You just gotta watch out when they go Ported Eaton and mean tunes and a solid rear swap. Good kill though! The memories..........

Oh, I just read your dyno didnt see that before. Good kill though!

Sounds about right to me considering that the cobra weighs more especially the convertibles. Good Kill

Nice runs. H/C fbods are a great match for the terminators.

Really good kill. Hell I tied a modded terminator when I was spraying the 100 shot once. It's a feeling of accomplishment that's for sure.

For some reason I never run into terninators. I wish I could run into one. Nice kill.

Thanks and Very true. But a few KB's will have to watch out for me and my brothers 68 camaro. (mostly my brothers since I got a car) 650HP built motor with a 300shot should do the trick.

Nice, seeing numbers like the ones in your sig with a relatively "safe" shot is what is tempting me to get a nitrous kit.

Good kill. It's not just top end power that wins races. I believe that alot of H/C and bolt ons LS1's are beating Cobras due to power over the curve. It's extremely flat on our cars.

Power over the curve huh? I'm guessing you mean power under the curve.
Ever see a graph of a positive displacement or a roots blower car? The area
under the curve is downright nasty, far better than a N/A LS1 generally
speaking. There are other reasons why LS1's hold their own nicely.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
