Default How many have lifted ported 6.0L heads?

I heard tuning is the key to keeping these heads down. Along with L19 head studs. I also heard running a GM MLS gasket wont hurt either. So how many have lifted 6.0L heads? Let me know how much boost you were running, fuel and timing..

Yeah in my vid in my thread the 1st pass is 12-13 psi..... what i run with Pump 93... the 2nd pass is really the last pass at the track on 22 psi.... to be sure im safe fuel wise....
the 3rd 9.26 pass is on 20 psi.

I asked the question not long ago as well... Harlan was the first to chime in... then PSJ, then others... these guys dont lift heads that are properly bolted on (you mentioned what needs to be done earlier). Made me decide to stick with 6.0's instead of going big money heads.

Vince,

Would your compression ratio have anything to do with you lifting the heads. Maybe if you bring it down to a boost friendly 8.5 ??? Just a thought...

We've lifted them but it was due to timing not the head itself.

Not 6.0's but have lifted the AFR's...going to the L-19 studs and GM MLS now. The std ARP's and SDE gaskets aren't working. Everyone with the L-19's what you going to as far as ftlbs? Is 10% over-torque too much? Don't want anymore problems with lifting the heads and do not want to pull the motor for larger studs unless its the very last resort...

I have ported 6L heads (not milled), with the "dreaded" Cometic gaskets & ARP studs. (retorquing them is the key I think) So far I haven't lifted a head, but I'm just getting into the "serious boost" category. I was only making 8 psi before, and obvioulsy never had an issue. Now I'm at 12-14. My motor is 9.3 CR, with 14* of timing (was at 18 before) running a full tank of 92 octane mixed with 3-4 gal of race gas with good fuel pressure so we'll see.

Maybe Intmd8 can post what my gaskets look like, he has my car. I ran only C16 and his tune when I was making runs. My first set of MLS gaskets from like 2003 had some etching or burn channels, but I was also fighting some FAST controller issues so timing might have been an issue.

I would say it was too much timing..

The gaskets look fine. Also, could you PM me with your piston dish and cyl head CC info so I know what your CR is going to be.

Hey man, can you calculate mine for me?

I'm running a Ross -20 cc dish , going to swap to some 72cc 6L truck heads (right now I'm running my stock ported heads). I don't have all the other info, as far as gasket thickness (is thinner or thicker better?) or deck height.

THANKS!

PM sent Jimmay. Did the epoxy hold up in the heads or did they break thru?
