If you have caught my other threads you should know I am (attempting) building a show quality interior. I am using Dupont high gloss black automotive paint on many of the large pieces (all speaker panels, a-pillars, floor sills, lower dash). I was going to match the AC trim, guage cluster cover (that plastic piece going around it), radio bezel, and the top of the center console to the exterior of my car (Sebring Silver) with the same quality automotive paint. I also plan on a 6 point roll bar, Sparco seats, new black carpet and a reupholstered rear seats to match the Sparco color pattern. There are a few local guys here who do good CF work and I have come to a dilemma. Here it is:
Should I use the Sebring Silver auto paint for the trim pieces to go with the gloss black, or should I go with some custom CF work? VOTE AWAY!

I'd go the carbon fiber route, but I'd do it just a little bit differently. First, start with this:
It's called "Hexcel Texalium." When light hits it from certain angles, you get little twinkles. Then I'd clearcoat it with this:
http://www.alsacorp.com/products/kits_2/C4C_Black.htm
...and maybe mask off a pinstripe border around the edges of certain parts to have just a hint of silver still showing up. This way, you could have however much silver you wanted and the effect of carbon fiber all happening at the same time.

I think CF is over-done. I'd go with the Sebring Silver… IF it can be done well and you truly can get an exterior-quality finish. Since it's a show car, I think that would look good. But, for a Daily Driver I'd say *none of the above*. Then again, I'm a minimalist… I like subtlety.

Carbon fiber looks nice, but that's some of most yellow resin I have ever seen in my life. There are a lot of clearer epoxies out there that don't yellow.

btw min isn't a daily driver but it IS driven 3 days outta the week. the finsih is exterior quality (did basecoat/clearcoat with TONS of sanding, took about 15 hours or work). if put a coat of wax on it to protect it and after 8 months its still as good as new.

This kit was originally on Steve's "Bling Mobile", it's not one of the RKSport peices.
