Holden Performance - GTO VS. WS-6

WILL THE NEW GTO BE A HIGHER PERFORMING CAR THAN THE CURRENT TRANS AMS? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

The word from Pontiac is yes it will have more power than the current WS6 apparently word is that it is suppose to have the same horsepower or similiar to that of the C5 Corvette.

There is no real power difference between a current C5 and a current Trans Am. I doubt the GTO will perform any better than the current LS1 cars. We’ll just have to wait and see...

What I meant was that the rated horsepower of the GTO is supposed to be 350 hp not the WS6 rating of 325 hp but the GTO is supposed to weigh in about the same as the current WS6 so performance should be the same if not better. But I will post up more info as it comes in.

1) the GTO will weigh 200 lbs more 2) The f-body and the GTO's factory hp #'s are meaningless and dont reflect the actual output of their powerplants.

I know for a fact that the GTO is going to be faster than a WS6

My money is on the WS6. But NOBODY will know for sure until the GTO hits the streets. Everything else is just speculation, NOT fact.

I read the GTO would be 200 lbs heavier and the tuning would be more conservative... Expectation was that the GTO would be 2-4 tenths slower than a similarly equipped F-car.

I cant wait to see one of these GTOs over here. I would bet that Pontiac would want it to perform at least as good as the Firebird, since the GTO was their original hot rod, but thats just my opinion. Make it a Vette spanker and really make the chevy boys mad <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

According to Lutz at the GTOAA National Meet, the new GTO will be represent GM performance as will PMD in general. I dont know how that can be with a the rest of their lineup FWD. What were your sources on the ETs of the GTOs to the WS6s Prostock John? I havent heard any output numbers other than a general 350-400hp rating which doesnt mean didly. I expect them to perform as well as a 02 WS6 if not better. I sure hope they are vette killers! Just as long as they wax the new cobras. I personally want some GM V10 power in a goat. That's the core to the GTO Legend. Big cubes in a medium size car. But GM wouldnt allow anything to shadow the blessed vette. My question is will Chevy introduce a Chevelle? or a substitute for the Camaro?
