I am going to be doing the same thing. With a t-rex cam and a 4000 stall, it cuts down on the fun of driving the car (drivability). So I am going with a 6sp and going to start to have more fun!

Having driven both for many miles and talking to many people: it seems most people don't tend to keep a 6 speed long. They get bored of it. It seems that an auto can take the line quicker also.

The only really good advantage is the fuel econ the freeway.

M6!

So I have one less fast car to worry about...there are plenty of M6's here, helps keep my car quicker than the rest

I think sometimes it's a "grass is always greener" type of thing - you want what you don't have. I originally wanted a six speed but ended up buying my car because it had everything else I wanted. But from time to time I find myself thinking about converting, getting a different car with a six speed, etc. Yet when I'm out in CA and I drive my brother's six speed car, I realize how much I like my stalled A4.

If you don't plan on racing your car at the track then switch if that's what you want, but stalled A4s are WAY better at the track.

I switched from a auto to a 6 speed 3 years ago, I am switching back next week, can't wait!!
There has been so many times I would say "I wish I never would have switched" but I am doing something about it now I am going back.

If you like to AutoX then M6 might be better for you. If you like the 1\4 mile auto stalled is the way to go.

I think TransGo makes a shift kit that will let you manualy shift a 4l60e
I know a guy with a 01' vette with a 3000 stall and his car is one of the best auto-x cars I have ever ridden in!

6 speed if you don't really race it all of the time (from a dig, at the track etc...). tons of fun banging gears and such. if you like to go to the track/street race the auto wins every time. hell if you mostly highway race go with the 6 speed too.

It basically is personal preferance, if the 1/4 mile isnt a must have dead on launches. The M6 is by far the funnest to drive! Better gas mileage (these days I will take that) I am one that converted from A4 to M6 and I will NEVER go back

I had a '00 SS M6 and now the A4 Hawk. I also have a 3500 stall and I still say the M6 is a lot more fun for everyday driving. Don't get me wrong, I love the stall and the instantaneous pin you in the seat pull every time you nail it, but there's just something about that 6-speed. I haven't been to the track yet with the TC, so that may change my opinion real quick. I know it's going to be crazy compared to my old times. I was thinking about doing an M6 swap, but I don't want to be slower. Kind of that I want to be as fast as I possibly can thing. With my current mods, I know I'm faster as I sit with the stalled A4 than a M6. I guess I'll just have to find a M6 SS and have the best of both worlds. FWIW, I have raced several modded M6's and been very even with them on the highway. Gotta love that instant 4200 RPM's when nailing it at 65.

If you want consistency and have big plans for going fast stay auto. I've had 2 M6 and 1 A4 fbod. The m6 cars are by far the most fun. Even after I put the stall in my car the fun factor does not compare to driving a stock m6. My current car is lots faster than my old 02 z28 m6 was, but the fun factor just isn't there. I think it all comes down to your future plans for the car. Do you want to feel fast or do you actually want to be consistently fast?
