GTO (http://www.cardesignnews.com/autoshows/2003/losangeles/highlights/h04-pontiac-gto.html)

"The engine is mated to either an electronically controlled Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission or the six-speed, close ratio manual transmission available on the Corvette ZO6. Both transmissions feature a low-geared final drive axle ratio in a rear-wheel-drive configuration to maximize off-the-line performance, a limited slip differential, and a three-channel traction control system designed to help enhance vehicle control."

I really want to see one of these in person and see how they feel to drive. I have been wanting to get into another car and don't quite have the money for the vette. Would be nice to buy a GTO and drop it off for a set of heads and a cam and then have a nice little daily driver that nobody would think much about...

Anyone know what the price range is going to be on one of these? I am thinking it might be a really fun car to drive for a few years until I can get into a second or third year C6. Depending on how they look.

There is supposed to be a 5,000 mark up though..

I'm not happy about GM tagging this car with the
GTO emblem. The car is not a 'GTO'. We all know
what a real, (original), car stood for and looked
like. It looked like real muscle. This car looks
like most other imports, and they went ahead and
tucked an LS1 under the hood. We have enough cars
out on the road that look, smell, and feel like
this new car. Come on GM, be brave, draw up a new
Muscle car that deserves the GTO name.
(hope they don't try this type of marketing if and
when they bring back the Camaro)
Feedback, anyone?

Out of context, Strife...we are talking about
USA muscle cars, not where the name originally
came from.

Well,

I gotta say I'm dissappointed as well. It looks like a Grand Prix with an LS1.

IMO the Holden version looks more aggressive. This car does not look aggressive at all.
